i have been thinking, and i have come to the conclusion the spiral porting will do jack shyte over straight porting.

porting makes it alot quieter and in like the all american, it helps accuracy

who can explain why the big shot is so d@mn accurate then? it has just a band of ports at the last inch of the barrel. so you can keep your fancy porting, i am sticking with what works best, (accuracy wise) LAPCO!!

A boomy only has straight porting. Yet it is arguably the most accurate barrel in paintball (w/ a good paint match). I've had spiral porting, and I've had straight, all in all, the only difference is the looks. I just think it's a gimmick.

Porting is a waste of gas, it doesnt do anything for accuracy, the only good thing is it quiets the gun down (i could care less if my gun is quiet)

SP barrels are good quality, but they have so much porting they're big time gas hogs.

My choice is LAPCO, short, look good, great hone, good accuracy with the right paint, and CHEAP

you need just a little bit, not a whole **** load of porting like with some of the barrels I've seen out there cough *smartparts* cough.

that if the porting was not in line. more offset, then it would spin the ball and accuracy would be great. i think i might have to buy a plain barrel (anyone know were i could get one?) and try it out.

In order to have any noticeable effect on accuracy you'd have to spin a ball approximately 3000 rpm

your a dip**** what do you think porting does if you get a cheap barrel than it will do that. Oh yeah tip its the gun the causes most of those problems the spinning is beacuase of the cocking bolt dumb ***

Porting does increase accuracy. The porting allow the air infornt of the ball to escape. This reduces the amount of turbulence and opposing pressure the ball has to face as it leaves the barrel. As a result the ball will fly more on course with fewer sudden changes.

I don't think spiral porting does jack. I mean HOW can holes make a paintball spin. Maybe if it was ported how sniper1rfa said. But I am looking at my all american and the portings not like that. I think its just another sales gimmick.

Spiral porting just looks cool. Spinning the ball does nothing regardless of how it's ported/rifled

down at the bottom they said there is no "best barrel." there is, the freak, cause it has many sizes :-). i think i am going to try my theory on one of those unvented brass barrels.
