18's are incredibly too long. for playing in the woods, and for speedball. If you just want to get it for the heck of it go ahead. But as for performance gains... using a 18" barrel won't give you great accuracy, and performance at all. If you have the extra money, and want to get it just for fun, then go ahead. If this is going to be your primary barrel, then i say "no"

I agree, you would be better off getting a stainless steel barrel from first call paintball, they are really cheap their, it is a little heavier than the boomy but with the money you save you could buy another barrel. Also after the ball passes 8-12 inches through the barrel it just gets slowed down. So get a 12 inch. Hop that helped a little.:)

Don't get any thing over 14 unless it's a 16 inch 32 degrees sniper.

A ball needs 7 inches or so to get it going straight and give it speed. Anything after that will not give you anymore accuracy or range, because the balls are not being spun in the barrel, like bullets-unless of course you are using a flatline, then you could get more distance, but it would arc like a mother... anyway... After a ball has reached its max speed and it's in the barrel, the extra lenngh will only serve to slow the ball down, due to friction. And since the ball spends more time in the barrel, it could be more effected by the kick of your gun- you would have to keep it pointed at the target til the ball is out of the barrel no matter what, and the long it's in the barrel, the longer that is. That, however is probably less of a problem. BUT!! Barrels that are longer have WAYYY more porting, so they are supposed to be quieter. However, if you are running LP, a really long barrel, like htat 18" boomy will shoot your setup in the nuts and laugh in it's face, man. TOOOOO much porting, although I still think it could be quiet.
I still like the shorties tho, and the longest barrel I would ever buy if I had a choice in length is 12". I just ordered a 10" Dye SS that should be here tomorrow. That's where it's at man, short and sweet. :D

Well, for LP a longer 1 piece barrel is better, because you want more room for acceleration.
Anyways, I shoot a 10" boomer, and I like it.

I had one but it was to long and it kept getting stuck in the ground it is now prooven that 12 inch barrels have the same accuracy and disstance than a 18. The reason they said that is that 18 used to cost more so people would buy it based a lie. Now times have changes.:)

its up to you man i like the longer barrels just because im used to shooting a rifle that is like 50 inches overall lenght so i get the longer barrels for my hand eye coordination but if you are going into speedball i would do 14 inch max!!!!!!!!!!!

even if it is only $20, 18 inches is way too long to be effective.
