hell yes! i went to play paintball in fort worth (texas) and a case of pmi premium was $110!!!!! i thought that was outrageous! i can get it here for a little under 60! but even a case is high.. but it's ok for me.

when i buy paint, i usually get the special at my local pb store... which is 2 cases for $75.00 + tax... its pretty decent, better than gap, and better than big ball, pmi, 32 degrees... but paint should be cheaper... like $30 bucks a case for decent paint, and $40-50 for expensive paint... if only there was a way we can get paint wholesale, instead of near msrp.

at my local field they charge $90 for a case of premium.
although, at a local store i can get a case of premiums for $52 and i think $50 a case is pretty reasonable.

a case here cost 100 dollars CDN for
on the field, if u got ur own equipment
at MR PAINTBALL the owner/part owner gives me 75 dollars a case, and he matches any shell and color so i can play cheap at other fields.
try this out!

Are they filled with gold!? silver? uranium 235? rubys?
Some gelatin shells and x-lax filling cost 100 smacks at my local field. I feel so robbed and dirty when I hand over the money. Paint should be alot less that it is. My field rips ppl off by charging twice then what you buy in store, and FIELD PAINT ONLY!

buy your paint off the internet, it is really cheap. and i havn't got any broken balls yet:) and actually the price off paintb is going down, just think how much a case costs if the paintballs were 30 cents a piece like they were in the early eighties:(

alot of people get caught and get banned for sneaking paint
Citizen_V
07-12-2001, 05:26 AM
U just have to mix the same kind of paint that u sneak in with the little amount u buy there, it works best at outdoor fields.
The only way u get caught is if u are sloppy about it.
(tell nobody that u do/or did it)

Yeah, its kinda expensive but once you get your gun, mask, tank, you usually only have to buy balls. Its alot cheaper than some hobbies like golf, climbing, racing, motocross, etc. At one of the fields i play at, they sell anarchy balls for 80 a case,,and the other field sells the new PMI premium for 115 a case,,,,,I get the low low cause I know the guy ,,,,but no way in hell Id pay 115 for a case...

This one field i went to was field paint only so first off that sucked, second of all, all they had were Big Ball, Marbs and Pro Ball which wasn't a problem but a case of the marbs and pros were 80 bux a piece! THe big Ball was about 65! I almost died laughing. Then I went to a local store and bought a case of all star's for 56 so I was happy.

yeah but when your playing stock class you dont buy that many paintballs...they used to buy 10 round tubes so it wouldnt cost much for a day of play

u gotta look at it from the companys piont of view, its not like u can hand make a paintball. u need exspensive machines and employees to work them, defenitally the high quality paint, they need to be almost perfectly round. Its not easy to make paint, so they're exspesive, and without the paint there wouldnt be a sport.
Of course i dont like how exspensive they are but the companys need to make a living too, whether there getting sh*t rich off it or not.

Paintballs a little expensive? probably. Also realize that a lot of that cost is shipping. Cases are heavy, and they have many of them to many different locations. You probably need to hire trucks to move it all, because UPS would charge you up the a$$, and lose a lot of it. I'm sure it adds up.

i think it is reasonable for rec ball. but fields charge way to much for paint that isnt even that great. same with tourneys, they charged $75 for zap cases...

Actually, talking to Larry who runs the local field, he buys the cases for 65 canadian then sells em at 200 a case or 100 a case for members. Is it too expensive? No. What everyone is failing to realize is that your fields need to make money to survive. Yeah it'd be really dandy if we bought paintballs at 65 a case and the fields made nothing, I mean when I pay my 5 dollar entry fee to play for 6 hours, my field is making tons of money. And it isnt as though the rent on a small warhouse is expensive. Paying refs? Hell they ref for free I bet. And charging 4 bucks to fill a 9ounce CO2 tank is what really keeps em going. So No, paintballs arent too expensive, I think they're pretty reasonable actually

ugh, i mean i know they have to make money and all but still. charging 120 for a case of paint is waaaayyyy too much! that is why i'm not going to my local field at this point. cuz they rip me off!!!
... i'm surprised muck didn't move this to "barrels and paintballs" section
oh and my local field charges 15 bucks for entry, 15 for rental. and 120 bucks for a case of paint.... and thats with a freakin' membership!!!

Yes twitch, but, also by charging so much they turn off current customers, and scare away future customers. I think 70 or 60 per case for decent field paint is reasonable if they require you to use field paint. If they don't require field paint, they should charge more, I think. While you might make lots of dough early on when you charge alot, you won't in the long run, cuz people will find other places to play.

Not really. There is only one place in Dallas that will let you bring your own paint, and one place anywhere near Austin. (it's still about an hour away) When you play with renters, they would rather go to the closest place, since they have to buy paint anyway.

When I first got into the sport in the 1980's paint was 10 cents a ball or 200.00 a case for oil based paint that stained anything that it came in contact with. Pump gun prices were about 400 for a phantom. Expensive now, hell no, the price is slowly getting better (wholesale level) with each year. The fields just might not passing the savings on to the player. Oh by the way I owned a sports/paintball/firearms shop for many years and know about the droping paint and gun prices.

Yeah but think of it this way, how much does a case last you? I can play around 6 hours off a case of paint. The owner is making 35 bucks off me. So he's getting 6 bucks an hour for me to play. That's not rolling in the dough by any means

i only use a half case, cause i'm a..... uh, hell, i dunno

Also, you can save a lot of money on paintballs, if you know how to play it. Buy a bag of 100. Then every game, run straight up the middle and fire about 10-15 shots. Don't get behind any bunkers, or protect yourself in anyway.
You can turn it into a sub-game really. If you get someone before being shot to hell, you win. If you just get shot to hell, you loose.

ohh, gee, that's why my field doesn't allow scuba tanks, but some fields are sponsored, they get discount on buying bulk paint, at the same time allowing for improvement of fields, and advertisement.

We all know that they are made the same way as something like gel caps right. I dare you to go out and buy 2000 gel caps for under 60 bucks. Example: 24 pack of gel cap sudafed... $5.19. According to my calculator, 2000 of them cost $432.50. Whoa. Paint is cheap... very cheap.

i think i would consider my self lucky, there is a store about 20 min away from me and they have marbs for $75 a case wich isnt bad at all, its about the same as a case off xpaintball + shipping, a litle more, then at their feild its $25 for a bag wich isnt bad but its expensive, my other locals tore is starting to get in marbs, and hes sponsoring my team so hopefully ill get some cheap from him, but in my opinion they are too expensive, yea compaines do have to make money, but once they get their gear payed off they should lower their prices, it probly only casts the like 1/3 cents per ball if that and they are charging us close to 3 cents so.., they are jacked up too much

Yes and no, I don't think fields charge too much for paint they're just trying to make money (which as any busniessman will tell you is the only to stay in business) but I feel if the manufacturers came down on their prices then the fields could come down on theirs but if a field's paint is too rich for my blood I'll either deal with it(If we can bring our own paint when we have it) or go to a different field. Of course this works for me since ost fileds I go to are both easy with the prices and are BYOP. :)
