Bogus reviews...

In the "sticky" thread above were were discussing reporting reviews. I'm posting this as a new topic, as I'm not sure how long the review in Question will last before it is yanked, and I want everyone to see what I am talking about.

Go to the review section for the BE Marauder and look at the latest review. I'm refering to a "review" by a fellow who is using the name "Msquared". This is the sort of "review" that I report.

Quote the "reviewer"..."..I like this gun cuz it's black like me...even tho I'm white..". I will refrain from comments regarding racially confused folks, but this sort of crap has no place in the review section. Add to this his general tone and the addition of "AK and gun with grenade launcher attachment" to his "similar products used" section and you have the latest poster child of the "K3W1 D3WD" "review".

I agree it's not appropriate, but wouldnt this have been better as a PM to a mod?

That's the Maurader review, right? I saw that one about 10 minute ago. I reported it too.

Look through the splatmaster reviews. That's what a review page should look like. There's no, "BUY IT NOW OR UR 4 n00b!!"comments, nor do you see, "NSG IS TEH SUX0R!"

May I humbly suggest to the powers that be that you institute a temporary ban for those who post those reviews? (Not the splatmaster kind, the bogus BE kind). Not a permanant thing, just a weeklong IP ban. Something that'll sting, wake them up. Ebonclaw puts it quite eloquently in his sig. I'm too lazy to quote right now, but the extent is that you can stop this behaviour.

Glad that you agree. No, I posted it here to help people understand what I mean when I talk about "no content reviews" or "inappropriate reviews". I have caught a bit of grief for being a "tattle tail" or "trying to eliminate negative reviews". I hope this graphic example will help show the sort of reviews that are all too common in the BE gun sections and that have to be reported.

Why do these guys always hit the B.E. guns?

Because "K3W1 D3WD$" think it's somehow "K3W1" to bash BE. Due to the undeniable quality issues that some BE guns have, they tend to have a poor reputation amongst the PB community. The "stocking cap" crowd has a need to feel superior to somthing, so they pick on what they consider to be an easy and acceptable target.

However they seem to restrict this juvenile behavior to the relative anonimity of the 'net. I have rarely if ever seen someone hassled face to face for using (or defending) a BE product. The closest I have ever come was a young player who aproached me a few weeks ago. It went something like this:

D3WD: Dude! What kind of marker is that?
Me: It's a paintgun, not a marker. Markers are what you find in a child's school box.
D3WD: hahaha Ok, whatever dude. What is it?
Me: It's a Rainmaker.
D3WD: I heard those are pieces of sh_t, dude!
Me: Really? Have you ever shot one? Or even held one?
D3WD: Ummm...no.
Me: Ok, come over to the crono range and I'll let you try it out. Someone has been feeding you a line.
D3WD: (after firing a few rounds out of my Rainmaker) Damn...this thing shoots just as nice as my bud's Bushmaster.


Anyone have a similar experience?

what I really hate are reviews like:
years of experiance: 5 or more
gun setup: bla bla bla
simerler products used: everything
Good: its a really good gun
bad: nothing
conclusion: 100 words buy it buy it buy it buy it 100 words 100 words buy it buy it buy it buy it 100 words 100 words buy it buy it buy it buy it 100 words 100 words buy it buy it buy it buy it 100 words

I report those as well. There are too many stupid people on the internet. I just hope they never get together and breed..

Yeah i have had something very similar...But just cause someone says dude that doesnt make them a a K3W1 D3WD its just slang man and kids use it belive it or not but either way we have different p[oint of views.
