I went to my shop to buy a barrel, and the guy there told me that i should also buy a new bolt, He said that it would help my accuracy, is this true,

yes but not that much

bolts, as far as I know, deal more with gas efficiency.

A bolt won't do anything unless you're going to make your gun LP.

Naw, it won't do anything for accuracy unless your stock bolt is screwed. They are trying to get you to spend more money no matter how sincere they sound, just remember that. Actually, a delrin bolt will slightly reduce kick on some markers. But if he meant a venturi compared to stock, no.

im tellin yuo it will change accuracy by like 4 or 5 percent nothin big but it does

did you end up buying the bolt?

it helps a little with accuracy and a lot with ball breakage. this is so bc the air is evenly displaced throughout the paintball instead of all at one place. so that causes the ball not be as "deformed" while its going through the air (or barrel)

Spyder Compacts come stock with venturi bolts. Getting a new one won't do any good.

4 or 5 percent? Where did you come up with that? He didn't even say what kind of a bolt the guy told him to get. You have no way of knowing how much it will help accuracy.

Paintballs do not deform at any time during the firing, or through the flight (impact not included of course). Tom Kay proved that. A good (high-flowing) bolt will help with making your gun more gas efficient. It allows your gun to achieve a higher velocity, thereby allowing you to either turn down your velocity adjuster or lower the pressure on your regulator if you have one. Turning down the velocity adjuster makes the gun use less air with each shot, and turning down the reg lowers your operating pressure, making your gun more efficient and generally not breaking as many paintballs. Venturi designs are a gimmick (the one on the Spyder in particular. Get some pliers and unscrew that insert, and you will have a higher flowing bolt.). The idea that they "evenly displace the air" will not have nearly as good or as strong an effect as if they just had an open face, which would make it higher flowing. With a lot of aftermarket bolts you will also need new springs or a regulator. It's best to just test it out first so you know what you're getting in to.

It doesn't change accuracy at all. It does change the consistency a little bit. Consistency is really more important though. For example, Golf... would you rather hit it further, or know exactly where its going to be every time? The longest drivers hardly ever win, it's always the ones that can make the exact same shot every time. In paintball, a stable velocity (and distance) is more important than a little bit of accuracy.
