/me hopes this is in the right forum.
I am looking to purchase/obtain a Stingray II package:
__________________________________________________ __________
Stingray II Paintball Gun
20 oz CO2 tank
Co2 Quick Change Adapter
Five 12 Gram Co2 Cartriges
14" Truflight Sniper Barrel
4 x 15 Daisy Sniper Scope
50-Round Hopper
World Cup Gun Oil
Over 20 High Quality Urethane O-rings
Super-Sucker Squeegee
Owner's Manual
Original UPC
Free Field Fee Pass
Barrel Plug
100 Round View Loader Tube with Spring Lid
and the Original Stingray II Assault Barrel
__________________________________________________ __________
Well the problem is I heard that Stingrays are slow,
noisey, and hard to customize. Well I am looking for a good
snipering marker but I don't know. I want to be able to
take off the scope, take off the HUGE barrle and acctually
be able to shoot quick with accuracy. This is putting me in
a ditch. I mean the deal sounds good: $140.oo for it ALL.
Would I be better off getting a brand new gun for $150 and
the barrel for $80 and then using it as a sniper?
Anyone have any ideas?
Here's some pictures:

Also, High end and Low End!?!? What is that?
(I need to learn the vocab!)

No one is going to help me?

you don't need all that. just get a spyder compact or some pirahana (spelling). a scope won't help you out much, especially with a pos barrel and co2.

Don't buy a Stingray. Buy a Spyder Compact or a Piranha VTL, and start from there. You can upgrade as slow as you want. You don't need the scope, or the quickchange, or anything like that.

Stingrays are crap! Never buy a BE gun. If you want a good sniper marker get a spyder with a 16" Smart Parts All American or Dye Boomstick. BE guns break, and have no accuracy.

Low end means lower quality. This always refers to blow back markers. Your spyders, pirahnas, tippmans and other spyder clones. These will generally run base around $100-$250. A high end marker is an electropneumatic gun (expensive) or a very good semi-automatic gun. Your typical high end gun is something called an autococker and an automag. They run anywhere from $350 and up. There are cockers that cost around $1250. You are looking at a low end gun. Since you are beginning you want a blow back. Just as a point of reference, stringrays are super low end. If you can't tell, no one really like BE guns. :D

Ok, look at the TL plus, look and an STS G2-3, Same option, same features. Now lok at who they are made by. PMI and Kingman. PMI is a chicago based company, and probably the oldest company in paintball. Kingman, wel established, but, the markers are made in tiwain. Back when my friends and i were starting paintball, i had a spyder, my friend had a pirhana. Both started leaking from the low pressure chamber, the thingy under the barrel. I call kingman, asked for a new part, it was 10 bux, i was like ok, but my friend called PMI, they replaced it for free. Just a thought, i say pirhana

However, U/\/a/\/\eD a lot of "the best" paintball equipment is very opinion based. The best thing to do is find all the guns you are interested in and try them out. This way you will find out which gun/equipment feels best for you.

Not all guns have the same accuracy. LP guns are much more accurate than HP guns. I'm sure he said 16 in. barrel because a 16 in barrel is slightly more quiet than a shorter barrel.

Jus wondering, did you post how much that package costs? I'm too lazy to look. If it's a good deal, go for it. My friend had a Stingray, good gun for messin around the house and playing simple rec ball.

I think I am going to buy a brand new gun, when I get enough I will get a cheap *** sting ray (purple of course) and *** a sweet boomstick!
blake_sw
07-20-2001, 03:04 PM
Forget the boomstick, it'll cost more than your gun! Jus get a nice CP or J&J barrel, they're cheaper and really good.

ok, 16"!?!?!??!

*shudders* you don't 16", there's not much of a performance difference between 12" & 16". The reason 16" seems more accurate is cause you can line up the target with the barrel better (longer barrels stick out further). Plus, 16" really gets in the way. I would never go over 12" (jus cause I play front and lots of speedball).
