Hey all,

I'm new to Paintball, only played two games thus far. I'm hooked. ;)

Anyhow, my playing style favors a gun that is accurate and quiet, in other words, I like sniping or stalking/ambush. I've been looking at markers like Spyder and Piranha but can't seem to figure out what would be best for my playing style.

I want semi-automatic because it's really not that much more accurate than a pump when you can fire 4 rounds to every single pump round -- numbers make up for minor inaccuracy. I figure a good barrel on the gun will do me enough for woods sniping, AND, I will still be able to be aggressive which would be difficult with a pump.

So what kind of Sniper markers are available for around 200$? I'm a bit flexible on the price, but I'm not ready to spend the money on an autococker or angel. Barrel is important.

Thanks for the recommendations.

If barrel is important, the price goes down a bit. If it's just the gun and barrel for $200, you can get an Armson Stealth and a regular Spyder. (I liked that combo before). But if you need to buy a $50 mask, a hopper, a tank and everything else, $200 isn't going to be enough for a blow back semi.

Get a spyder compact 2k and put a good barrel on it. And get a reg if you can, and bottom line. You will have a good gun then.

Compact 2k - $90
Reg - $50-100
Barrel - $50-110
Bottom (maybe drop forward) - $40

total - around $250

If you go to www.firstcallpaintball.com you can get a very good sniper barrel for $50, the All American 2 piece. That gun will be a very good beginner gun. You will need a mask, don't buy a cheep one, and an antisiphon tank around $40. So, like $320 for all you equipment and you are ready to go. YOu don't need the reg right off the bat though. It will make your gun a lot more quiet though and make it a lot more consistent and accurate.

How are Piranha's made better? You've been listening to PiranhaPro too much. :) I would get either a Piranha VTL or a Spyder Compact and start from there.

Spyders aren't ****ty. Piranha's may be made slightly better, but a Spyder can perform just as well as a Piranha.

In case you havent noticed yet, there is no such thing as a "sniper" in normal paintball play.

In scenario/big games, there are some type of sniper roles, but nothing like your thinking.

Anyway, for a gun:

Piranha VTL-90
WGP Reg-25
Dropforward/bottomline-30
CP one piece barrel-35
Spectra mask--25(on sale)
tank--20

Thats a bit more than 200, but its a nice setup.

What about the Inferno Terminator?

The guy at the shop told me they are better built than Sypders AND they take spyder barrels.

He recommended the Inferno with an All American 14" barrel.

Anyone have any comparisons for this with the popular models?

Thanks again.

Never used a terminator, but the All American is a good barrel and will make most guns more accurate and more quiet.
