View Full Version : Indoor arena lighting?

I went indoor paintballing for the first time at a place in Eugene, Oregon. This place was pretty cool, had a van in the field, and some sniper towers. (though I can't say it was a good idea to get in either thing) My only beef was that it was really, really dark. I don't recall any lights in the actual arena, other than the window for watching. If there were lightsources, they weren't bright at all, and the whole of it was like movie-theatre dark. You could make out people, but a lot of times it was hard to tell if they were on your team or not. Pink pennys were used to denote teams, but still there was a lot of friendly fire, I know of at least 3 people in the 6 or 7 games I played that were tagged by friendly fire.
Is this normal for indoor places? I know people probably appreciate the cover, but I didn't like straining my eyes to make out if a guy was on my team late in the game.

Unfortunately most indoor places are poorly lit like that. I despise having very little lighting, and used to have to play at a place that sounds very similar to the one you're describibg. Lucky for me, a new place opened up that is very well lit, but sadly the majority of places are still dark. Look around, you may find a well lit place in your area

i to have that problem with the nearest field in my area, also the floor is concrete and often slippery, whick has lead to many bumps and bruises

My old indoor field in BC was just the same. They had only one large light crossing the middle of the ceileng. Really hard to see. What was worse was that there was no ref, bah I hate that.

Mushi, what is the name of that field? I live in Portland and i am looking for a new place to play.
Well, the closest field to me recently closed down and is going through the process of being reopened by new owners. But when i played there, usually it was pretty well lit. There were lights in some of the buildings, plenty of light coming through the windows, and also some soft light fixtures on the roof protected by netting (******* newbies still shoot at the lights). I never really had a problem with the lighting, unless they turned it off in the middle of the game :o

I think it was called the Paintball Palace. Here's the website. http://www.paintballpalace-or.com/ I remember those pink rental masks...hated those things. Prices were alright (think I ended up spending 40 bucks for 2 or 3 hours) and the players were cool when I went there.

i think i have heard of that field from a guy that i play with (met him from another forum) and he said that it was a small dark field, warpaint here in salem has the best lighting i have seen indoors ('cept for 1 part called the congo) but i usually dont play there because of the prices. its $10 for entry fee, and $8 per 100 rds. (FPO) i like the prices at hit'n'run better, that and the refs are cooler at hit'n'run. but hit'n'run is pretty dark, especially trying to look in the upper windows when we can use the buildings.
