View Full Version : Skill vs Gun Setups, PATHETIC

I was playing today at my local field and we started out with some speedball. I almost pissed my pants, when these whole group of guys with cockers, angels, with upgrades blown out like crazy came in. Well anyway, me and my friends had our stock Model 98's and spiders and VL200's like fools. Game starts, every player on the other side pumping out shots like crazy. We get the snap shots off and ended up elinating them. Yikes they wasted more paint in one round then we used in a day. Now this was not tourney related at all, it was just open semi, but still these people have these intimidating setups but so skill whatsoever.
Nothing better then pinning down and liting up an angel with a $150 stock blow back!

LoL, how come we never see threads about "Wow, these guys came to my field today, with angels, cockers etc., and totally whupped me and my buddies! They bunkered our team so bad! Man, it was awesome!"
heh..

Of all the tings stupid people say, these are the stupidest. I suppose if they'd have beaten you, it would be because of their "intimidating setups". Is it just me, or is it always either "I lost to the guy because his setup is too good" or "I beat the guy with the expensive setup he must suck and I rule". I'm sorry but all too often I get penalized for having a nice setup. Well guess what, last time we palyed I bunkered a guy with a raptor, then nailed a guy shooting an upgraded TL+ whoop-de-doo, you dont see me starting a thread about it. I'm sorry, not that this is a personal attack against you, but I'm sick and tired of these "PATHETIC" views that so many people seem to hold

eltwich just because you were at that field today and you got bunkered by my spyder, jk
I would have written a thread regardless if they owned us or not. But they were indeed pathetic and it was nessesary to let ppl know the angel is nothing to fear! Well anyway, they did get a bouncer shot off me and now I have a welt the size of texas on my stomach.

Today I got my a$$ kicked by Wasaga Beach Boyz player Jordan. He uses a blue defiant with 68/45 geddon. There you go.
Today absolutely sucked! Barely anyone with tricked markers. One guy my age had his dad's Angel LCD with A.I.R, Freak Barrel and some other goodies, heh, $3500 setup. He's pretty good though, I've seen him play tournaments. Whoa, back on topic..I hate playing against gun owners, I REALLY hate playing against gun owners in the woods. AIR BALL WAS DOWN, NOOOO.
Why were you usin' a Raptor Twitch!?
I bunkered a fool with a spyder compact rental (had a nice Scorpian barrel on it though)

I hate shooting alot of paint, unless it's at the end of the day and I have to go soon. I only reloaded once today..forgot to close the pod and got dirt inside of it. Hell to clean out...oh well, lesson learned.

I did. I was parallel to a newbie on the other team while reloading and he didn't even shoot me! I think I took out a 3 guys in that game. Got tagged while making a move to a bunker on the other side of the hill. I LOVE THAT FIELD.

People are WAY to critical about firepower in paintball these days. It is mostly player skill, no doubt. If you have lets say, a spyder with revolution and better barrel, you should be able to keep up with anything out there...As long it can shoot accurately, I say :)
Our team consists of a back player(spyder, hopefully black magic cocker soon), mid/front man(me), and front man(pirahna). And we held our own in speedball against a local team. We played four games; we beat them first and third game, they beat us second and fourth game. Wanna know what they had? (I'm doing it too! :)) A back player with a shocker and two front players with mags. Oh Yeah, did I mention one of them worked at the field? Build skill. It does more than a good gun ever could. The only exception...the time I almost bunkered a guy with an E-mag with my alley cat then ran out of ammo when I got right up to him...guess what happened :) That was funny stuff. And thats why I like clear hoppers.

I believe skill is way more important than firepower. If you are a good snap shooter you can take many players with big (not literally) guns out. I think if you can get a really high tech gun and you have skill and could whip out a stock class if you had to, more power to ya. But it's the newbies who buy $2000 dollar guns just to spray and pray before I bunker them who started the whole skill versus firepower debate anyway. If you have skill and a thick wallet, good for you. But skill always wins in the end.

i hate that people shoot a case of paint in 5 mins and dont hit anyone that requires no skill to waste that much paint!

I don't mind because its fun to play in those high paint games. The only time I go all out and just unload is if I win free paint. Other than that I play with a full hopper and 1 full guppy.

I agree with ELtwitcho, and just because you eliminated one person using a cocker doesn't mean that the cocker owner didn't have any other kills that game.

During beach blitz I dove into a bunker, spiked my 14 inch freak into the ground, filling it with about 6 inches of dirt, and had to start shooting through it or get eliminated. It was nuts, clouds of mud were flying out of my barrel

i hate when you people say "its all skill" "we held our own against guys with angels" because you have never played in a tournament. tell me how is a spyder shooting 7 bps with a freak barrel going to eliminate a good tourney player with an angel and freak barrel. he'll come up and snap shoot you and youll stay down pinned down in your bunker. you snap shoot him he will come around the corner and light you up. i agree some of it is skill, but if they keep you pinned down the whole time, what are you going to do? youll end up getting eliminated.
i know this: if you play me and i have an angel with 400 paintballs and you have a spyder with 150 paintballs, i will destroy you within a minute.
most good tourney players wont leave their back or their pods sticking out, so how are you going to eliminate him when they keep snap shooting you and pin you down. there is nothing you can do. also they watch the whole field so you wont "snipe" him or "sneak around him". maybe if a newbie with an angel played an intermediate with a spyder then the intermidiate would when. but what i am trying to say is that:
experienced player+spyder = good player
experienced player+angel = very good player
if your the one with the spyder, you will most likely lose.

LOL! I did that yesterday and it was filled with dirt. I turned my gun upside down so it wouldnt feed and blasted the dirt out.

How could you possibly assume you could beat me or anyone else on these forums if you had an angel with 400 balls when they have a spyder with 150 balls. There is such thing as luck and skill in paintball. Thats what I love about paintball, even the inexperienced players do get lucky, and get good shots. They sure as hell are not predictable :) I had a debate with my friend about this, he said he could beat me everytime we played if he had an angel and I used my pump. Not so. I think this Thursday I'm going to practice with my pump so I can disprove all those people that think gun setups matter that much. BANG ;)

uhhhhhh ya, tourney players never make mistkes, how is your gun going to help when i have a wide angle on you and you are receiving heat from me and the rest of my team? i really dont think that just because someone has an angel they are going to beat the person with a spyder because he just his gun was cheaper, i personally dont like angels, their trajectory is terrible (IMO), it just like lobs balls, and it doesnt matter how fast you shoot its where the shots go, id rather shoot 7bps and have one land on you than shoot 14bps and MISS 14 TIMES A SECOND!

Just to point out... its "My friends and I..." ;) I know, I know... SMART A$S! Yeah, i have a cocker, and i think that i intimadate more people. I dont like doing that, that is why all the upgrades in my sig are black... it isnt a flashy color, so the dont get as intimidaed, cause it is the same color as their M98 rentals :)
