i am brand new to paintball and i have just ordered my first gun (a spyder se) off ebay. it comes with a good barrel so that deals with the POS stock one... but what else is good? i was thinkin a new bolt would be good and i dont know if you consider this an upgrade, but a remote system with a 4+1 pack? please post comments but only if you feel like being helpful... this is a newbie forum so if youre just here to boost your ego by makin fun of newbies... get a life
thanks =)

A spring kit should be your first priority. A regulator should be next. My freinds and I swap bolts & barrels etc all the time & the only thing I see really making a difference is a good barrel & a regulator.

it is a ACI 12" zero gravity barrel... what kind of regulator would you suggest getitng and why would this help the performance of the gun? i thought all it did was tell you how much air pressure you had in the tank... thanks

The best reg for co2 is the stabilizer. No regs don't just tell how much gas is left. They regulate the oporating pressure in your gun, this keeps your shots more consistant.

Mine is a crossman rg1. You may be able to find one as cheap as $65.00. I paid $78.00. I almost forgot you need a anti siphon valve on your co2 tank. I already had one. They run about $10.00. My spring kit is by Mad Cats. $15-20. You get 4 springs of varying tensions. I colored mine with nail polish according to the tempature. (40-50 degrees = blue, 50-60 = bright red, 70+ fuscia. Good thing I didn't need more cause my wife was out of colors!!) The best thing you can really do is tune your self to your marker. Practice alot. I've met people with stock Tracers & Hammers who shoot really good just because of using them for years.

iisports.com, has the madmann spring kit, (I called it Madkatz). G3pb.com is another I've used. IIsports usually arrives UPs in 4-6 days and they have excellent customer service on returns. I'm at work right now so I don't have my links. I'll try to get them to you in the near future.

This is a great websight full of Spyder upgrades w/links to stores. Comboing it with the reviews on this one should get you a pretty good knowledge base.

bangandow, I have two Spyder SE's at my house I have worked on and shot. They belong to friends I have helped them repair.The one thing I would do If I owned one is to upgrade to a rear cocking bolt.Because the side cocking knob is easy to loose since you cant tighten it too much becasue you have to take it off to remove bolt for internal cleaning/O-ring replacement.Stripping these guns down for cleaning is a real pain since you have to have allen wrench and so on. Not really something you want to try in the field as you will certainly loose something. Upgrading to rear cocking bolt like on my Spyder Shutter would make feild cleaning so much easier.If you upgrade the bolt most other bolts will be rear cocking anyway I think.
