Polished Internals

Total newbie qusetion, what is polished internals? I'am sure it is exactly what it sounds but what is the point? Polishing is for looks, why make your bolt look good no one sees it? Does it increase peformance? Is it worth doing? How do you do it to a Spyder?

i had a spyder it helops alot, wht aobut polishing matrix bolt? it wouldnt reapply do anythign would it? because the bolt just contacts orings
