I think woodsball should get more respect. Everyone looks over it for SpeedBall (which is good too) and say it's just for newbies. Woodsball takes just as much skill as speedball, just in a different way. Just something I had to get off my chest.

There are those that do not enjoy the "thrill of the hunt" that woods/scenario games offer. Speedball is a more "in your face" type of game.
It is true that Speedball is more spectator-friendly than woods but it doesn't it make it better.
Personally, I enjoy Woodedball more than Speedball. I have played Speedball and enjoyed it but I always go back to the woods. I feel that it is the players that you play with/ against that wil make your experience more enjoyable or not.

how many times has these type of thread been on the boards?
I personally enjoy speedball MUCH more than woods. But I will play woodsball when I don't have a tournament or a team practice.
Both have some very good qualities!

Speedball and woodsball interact and relate with each other skill wise. I had been playing speedball for four years before I had even tried woodsball. The skills I learned in speedball helped me greatly in woodsball. Woodsball has always been seen as a long, drawn out "hunt" but it's really not. It's usually only a hunt if you're a camper or if the other team is a camper. Whenever I play I flank and use tactics applicable in speedball. Woodsball emphasizes the fact that you must always look over your shoulder and never get tunnel vision because the awareness and paronoia is heightened by small numbers and increased area. Both variations are wonderful and I fully enjoy them both.

Id rather play woods, mainly because The closest field is 2 hours away and charges 110 for a case of paint.. But speedball is great when i get the rare chance to play it. Both have good and bad points, and both are insanely fun.

speedball. you get the action right away, adrenaline pumps really quickly...
woodsball. fun... but not as fun as speedball... woodsball is where we get all these "sniper' stuff from.

i hate woodsball. everytime its with the same sucky players. they'r scared of me damnit!!!! there is only TWO reasons i agree to play....one: there isnt a field within an hour and, even tho im 16, I dont have a license and i cant drive there and my parents arnt about to. TWO: in woodsball there are no refs and no rules, that means shoot untill you feel like letting the whiners surrender. this means using my pheard tactic of charge like a bat out of hell screaming at the top of your lungs shooting like theres no tomorrow....sometimes they freeze like a deer, and sometimes they scream like a little girl and run to the reloading place. and theres the other time where my friend dove into a bush.

Well the same thing happens if you play speed ball witha bunch of chickens. And woods ball can have refs and it does have rules.

This is why I like the urban scenario games at Hollywood Sports Park. Uses the same skills, but much faster than regular woodsball and more fun, IMO, with the movie scenarios they've set up there. :)

ok....there are no refs with the woodsball i play. its just some "friends" from my church most of the time and the last time we played, there was a boundry limit and they disreguarded it by bout 100 feet. it was because theres a road near there and the parents didnt want the balls flying and hitting cars.... and theres a difrence with chickens in woods ball and the chickens in speedball....speedball is easyer because you dont have to go looking for them. you know where they are and if there chickens, odds are they arnt going to hit you because there gonna be sittin behind a bunker.
aslo when i played, when the other "team" was the "attacker" my 3 man team....consisting of a little kid which i told to stay at the side of a path and wait for them to come. me and my friend(me and him are the oldest...hes 15 and im 16) tryed to get them to come past the kid by poking our heads up then runing farther back. we ran and hung a left into the path and back tracked about 30 yards. we watched and they didnt follow, instead, they walked about 45 yards diagonal with the path(the path is pretty wide too. like wide as 2 and a half pickup trucks).....anywhay...where am i going with this....oh yeah...they stayed in the same friggin spot just aimlessly shooting waaay from where we were. they just stood there. so about 10 minutes later, after crawling on our(me and my friends) stomach, we got about 100 feet from them. poped up, and they scatterd. i hit one and he squeeld, then my gun stoped recocking so it was 3 shot's then id have to recock it. about one minute into the fight i get shot in the face and i jumo behind a tree to wipe off the paint( i was ashamed to by hit by a ***** and wasnt about to let them know they hit me...little *******s) and when i asked my friend if i couild borrow his gun so i could pull a japanese kamakaze thing that i do, he's telling me they ran to base camp!!!! wtf?!!? the little kid on my team never moved. i dunno if that was a good thing or a bad thing.
the reason i was so pissed is because they constantly kept giving up. and there was nothing i could do about it after the first time because they kept doing the "MASK OFF" sh***.
i hate playing with 11-13 yearolds.
and something eles that pissed me off is that my brother(hes the oldest on there team,14) JUST got an automatic spyder imagine!!! and hes STILL not agressive.
