Also, how do you think the type of gun you started on affected your skill level? I started on a pump gun, but really didn't develop myself untill I purchased a Spyder. I still only use 100 rounds of paint during 6 hours of play though.

I used a Talon as my first gun and I still have it in my closet. It still shoots like it is new. I used it for my first 2 times playing.

I remember the days of pump guns. That was when skill really mattered. Not who could spray the most paint. Unless, like me, you can sneak up on the kid that mommy and daddy by paint for.

started with a talon. I don't use the thing right now cuz I'm getting a new body (aluminum), and probably a new trigger (aluminum), and maybe somethin else like stickies I dunno.

Spyder TL+. it was a cool gun WHOA!
1st gun used: Sheridan KP-2
1st gun owned: BE Stingray
I'd love to buy another inexpensive pump to mess with (Talon or something). I only use blow backs/open bolts. No sense in spending $1300 on a paint marker. All it takes is one bad paintball to even the odds bewteen a $100 gun and a $1000 gun. ;)

First gun used: Bruizer Outlaw
First gun owned: JT Excellerator 4.0
I'm a new player to this sport. But I'm hooked on it! I just got my gun about 2 months ago and now I go paintballing about every 2 weeks. Glad I've never needed to start with a BE talon or something. Actually, i've never even used a rental. I borrowed my friends Bruizer Outlaw the first time out.

My first gun was a 68. carbine. Nice rifle feel for those woods games. Now I have a piranha sts g2 with pure energy 48/3000 nitro, macro line, pmi perfect drop forward, vl eVLution loader, boo-yaah E-LCD and 12" dye boomstick for those speedball games. I forgot about the days of borring old woods until you asked about the first marker. Thanks for the reminder of why I still play, the world discovered speedball. Next gun- Insight Components Engeneering "EPIC". I want one really bad! They say they are coming out with an electro version or something and an intergraded drop forward. Sounds like fun.

Not sure about first gun used, kinda forgot. First gun owned was a Stingray, shortly after sold it. A tippman, shortly after sold it. Then a minicocker, spent bundles and then shortly after I sold it. 8 years later...
Optimus is correct. I don't think I played well earlier, was a little to hesitant. I feel a lot more confident out there now, then before. I think I can hold my own. Maybe it's the gun?

Still playing with it from time to time. Going to finish an LP setup on it soon: Kingman Spyder TL Plus. Fine as a starter gun...
