Me and my friend, Paintballr157, both bought new guns. He bought a Spyder Victor and I bought a Tippmann 98 Custom. We are having arguments over which gun is better. I say my gun is better, he says his is better. If anyone can please help me and tell me which is better, please tell me by PM or replying to this thread.

the 98c is better. my experience is that many people who own spyders are idiots.

They're both the same unless one is tricked out more then the other one...

Anyone else know which one is better? I really feel that the Tippy is better, so far the vote is: Tippmann better = 3 (not all from this thread) / Same = 1 / Victor better = 1

The Tippy is definetly more durable, but performance wise, the guns will be pretty close. The 98c might be a little better. If I were you I'd have gotten a TL plus, and then tricked it. Then the tippy wouldn't stand a chance.

well considering the 98c is about 70 F*CKING MORE DOLLARS then the victor, i would say that is just a tad bit better because it is more durable, but if both were upgraded the victor would kill. they shoot the same stock anyways, but the victor just looks alot sexier.
dont argue because you had more money then him and you got a so called "better" gun. if you got something like a cocker or an electro, yea maybe itd be better. but i think you got ripped off.

No, I'd have to disagree with you on your second point bandar. Unless your saying a spyder victor upgraded vs a Tippmann 98c stock would be better then your dead wrong. Tippmanns upgraded are actually very nice and when you start off with a $60.00 marker you cannot expect a whole ton with upgrades. Tippmanns for example: Reactive Trigger, Full Boar Shadow/Rear Cocking, Electronic Trigger, New Barrel, Bolt, Expansion Chamber, Grips, Drop Forward, HPA possibly, Sight Rail, Warpfeed, Double Trigger with Trigger guard, Theres a lot more but since I don't own one I wouldn't know. My friend has a nice one tricked out and has put more than a grand into it. Yes I've seen higher end tricked spyders and they are also nice but comparing a tricked victor to a tricked tippmann I would have to go with a tippmann. This is my personal oppinion though if you would like to disagree go right ahead :) Again stock vs stock it would be close but put a new barrel on that tippmann and there wouldnt be much competition.

There is no difference in performance once upgraded
I would choose a spyder over a tippman though

Umm...thanks for the back up nordic, and calebd2, why would you choose a spyder over a victor? Almost all spyders have the same setup, just different name and price. From what I've heard about the Tippy, its a wicked gun. For the Victor, I haven't heard much really. Theres only 40 reviews for it on this site. For the Tippy, theres about 1150 reviews, and they have the same rating, thats saying pretty good stuff 'bout the Tippy, ain't it?
By the way, I got my gun today =] (3/31/03)

Yeah, typo  spyder over tippmann is what I meant. Thanks for correcting me Mr. Grammer-Nerd.
Just kidding.

I wouldn't say wicked but its nice for its price. Tippmanns in general will get blown out of the water by anything in the price range of $250+ take a mag/cocker/impulse for example. Although great starter markers Tippmanns lack necessary qualities for a high performance tournament end marker.
stock they are about the same...
Tippy's have the abuse power...but don't have the supair/speed ball/ hyperball ability the spyder has.
All depends on what you have on it, and what your playing. My vote goes to "Same" if they're both stock.

Every review that I have read for the Tippy 98 Custom is great. And they all say BUY IT!!!! This is the best newbie gun/entry level gun. Thats why I'm saying this gun is better, so far the only upgrades I have are a double trigger but that was for my personal preference.

so what are you saying...spyders cant get expansion chambers, sight rails, drop forwards, grips, electronics, etc?
there are more aftermarket parts for spyders then there are tippman.

well, stock, tippmann is better. but if you dropped money into a victor, so that you both payed the same amount, i would chose the victor without even thinking twice about it.
stock = tippmann
at same price = victor

Why I don't like Tippmans:
Huge- they suck for speedball
Heavy
Ugly
Aren't as good as spyders stock- can be pretty good guns once upgraded
Now Spyders are much smaller and compact, aren't heavy, aren't ugly (well not as ugly as tippman atleast), and are better stock.
