For my next upgrade, I was thinking of getting a rear cocking mechanism, but one question I have is are there any advantages or disadvantages to using a rear cocking mechanism on a Model 98 or is it preference?

in rc, it's really only just cosmetics....although in rear cocking you don't have to worry about the cocking knob falling off or anything..

I just recently put a rocket cock on my M98 for one simple reason. Im left handed and occasionally bumped my side cocking knob. Other than the fact that I no longer have to worry about bumping it I see no reason to put a rear cock on the gun. If you do put a true rear cocking mechanism on your gun be sure to use a beavertail becuase they move back and forth with each shot, unlike the rocket cock.

I dont know what TLplus84 meant but you'll never have to worry about your side cocking knob falling off because it has the rear spring going right through the middle of it

on a m98 do not i repeat do not replace the bolt all the other ones for the m98 are WORSE for the gun and if you put a rocket cocker or what ever you put on these are the advantages no dirt gets it side the gun or paintball shells it makes it quieter because it has a little wall to stop the sound from exiting with out hiting it and it means you wont lose the cocking knob (yes i know that you can not put a rear cocking bolt on an m98 i was stateing a proven fact)
