I was wondering if a pressure regulator (like the one on the spyder 2000 or shutter) only improves performance when using N2 and HPA, or does it also improve performance with CO2? Also, what do you recommend a spyder or a tippman 98?

Thanks for any help.

what kind of spyder are you talkin about?

Even on a Spyder/ Tippman/ Pirahna or whatever other gun you may be thinking of, a regulator will help alot and give you more consistent velocities. The reason you see alot of higher end guns running nitro regulated, is that expensive electros are precision machines, and a higher pressure is usually bad for the internals, which are designed to be carefully cared for, and not exposed to the same treatment a Tippman is built to be exposed to. That and, the point of getting an expensive gun is to get the best performance possible, and a regulator helps achieve that. Back on topic though, a regulator will certainly help you out, no matter what gun you're using, just make sure if you run CO2, you run it on an anti-syphon and be sure that the regulator is a CO2 regulator, alot of Nitro regs wont work with CO2.

Hey thanks for the info elTwitcho, I'm thinking of geting the spyder 2000 and just wanted to check if the reg would help with co2.

hrmm the spyder 2k is a pretty good gun, but the reg isn't that great. It's decent, but don't expect like extreme consistancy in your velocity..just htought that i should say that..best reg for Co2 is the palmer's stabalizer..best for nitro is the Vigilante.

But the stock reg is better than no reg righ~? heh the Spyder 2k is a good choice...forgot to add that in my last post

Hey thanks TL, what do you think about the pirahna?
When they cloned it off the spider, did they improve it?

They not only improved it, but they EXTREMELY MADE IT BETTER! the design may be the same, but the thought put into it when making it imroved too!

i gotta admit the Phiranah is pretty sweet, especially that button to lower hte sear...it's a convinient accessory..but i still like spdyers better :D:D

the best reg for co2 is the palmer stablizer reg, its the best and only reg for co2, others are for N2. i sugest you go with a spyder tl plus with the palmer sablizer reg.

A reg does work on co2, but the one on the shutte rdoesnt do ne thing, becasue an ex chamber follows it. But on the compact 2000, its ok, becsue the line goes straight into the gun

Hey thanks damn fool.

I've heard that the shutter's reg isn't any good because of the x-chaber. Is there any way to get a reg -- x-chamber combo without running into this problem?

Set the X-Chamber up on a remote system, then the reg would go to your vert. ASA adapter. The reg would need to have a quik disconnect on it so you could attach the slide check or whatever you have set up on your remote to it.

If you don't like remotes you can just get an antisiphon tank adapter for 10$ at paintballgear.com and that will take all the liquid co2 and convert it to gas

well a pirahna PSI come with a reg that is much better than the spyder 2000 and is as good as an sts so that is probalbly the best answer here, what do you think?

i think it would be cheaper to get a Spyder, and attach a Pure Energy reg on it, and it would cost less than a PSI Pirahna...but the pirahna does look sweet.

Is the pure energy reg pretty good? I'm still deciding on a pirahna or a spyder.

why because of the quick field strip capabulitys there is a o ring on the end of the bolt to stop broken shells from geting jammed between the bolt and reciver all and all the pirhana is the gun to get you WILL NOT FIND ONE BAD RATING ON THESE GUNS LOOK at

http://www.p8ntballer.com read there rating they recamend it over any gun in its class but you sacrifice upgrades like bolts an trigger frames and other stuff

problem is that there are no dedicated paintball shops in my area, so I can't shoot them and go by feel. I'll have to get one and hope for the best!

SPYDER~! although both guns do have their pluses...like hte sear thingy on the Phiranah...but then the SPdyer has more upgradablity....

I was under the impression that the piranha was designed to accept the same upgrades as the spyder? Are there any noteable upgrades the pirahna won't take?
