I'm thinking of getting into paintball. I have had a Stingray for about a year and a half but have never played. I was thinking of selling my stingray and buying a Spyder SE. Should I do this? And if I do I'm going to get a package from acepaintball.com. I'm going to buy a 12 volt revvy, elbow, 20 oz. CO2 tank, a DYE sticky grip, a pull through squegee (sry if I mispelled that), and a new barrel. I also need help i n choosing a new barrel. I dont want one that is expensive (nothing over $75 max). Any help would be appreciated.

Well from one newbie to another let me just say this....
You claim you have NEVER played? Well if thats the case, are you sure that you're ready to dump money into something that you've never experienced? Until you are 100% certain that you like it and like it enough to be playing it fairly often, dont buy a gun. Just go out to a field and rent a gun and gear and try it out. Then if you like it and find that you can devote a decent amount of time to it, then get a gun. And ya I would recommend gettin that spyder over the old stingray.

I agree with Valadian. You should make sure this is a sport you're willing to get into. If you choose to, I don't think you'll need a 12v revy...you probably can't/don't need to even shoot fast enough to even need the revy...i say just stick with a normal 200 rd. hopper for now. And as a beginning gun...spyders and model 98 are decent guns to start out with. I've started out with my JT excellerator 4.0 and i'm extremely happy. Also, you're gonna need a mask too. Check out the JT Spectra, Flex 7 IZE, or the V-Force Shield. They're all priced around the same. I wish i could help you with a barrel choice, but i'm still quite undecided about what i should do. Hope this helps

bad move strider! go to the field with your stingray and play a few games. then go out and get a gun. yes, the spyder se is a good gun. put a teardrop on it ($50) and you ,have a decent gun. play a little before you buy a new gun

What I meant by never played was, never played in an organized game like at a field. I've played in the woods and such with some of my friends alot of times. And yes, I can easily outshoot my normal 200 rd. hopper with my stingray. I decided not to get a 12 volt, but to get a nine volt instead (b/c of price reasons). I hope that helps the ppl. that are willing to help.

P.S.- I am gonna get a mask, a JT nFORCER with a thermal lense to be exact.

get a 12 volt..its only 10$ more then a 9 volt and when you move up in marker hierarchy, you'll wish you spent the extra 10$ on a 12 volt when you have to pay another 50-60$ for a 12 volt

I'm creating a new thread to discuss this on.
It's called "Good deal? Bad deal?"

You might want to rent a gun at your field rather than use your stingray. If you have never even played before, you might want to atleast use a lowend blowback rather than use a plastic brass eagle gun. This way, you wont give up on the sport when either of these happen: 1) Your gun breaks 2) You cant hit anything due to bad accuracy 3) You break paint and it gets all over your gun 4) Your gun jams and you get gogged

Most fields use pirahnas (do they have a special deal for field owners .. just wondering, cause each field i go to they rent out those piranhas.) or some other reasonably ok marker and i think you will get a TRUE FEELING of paintball w/ that marker over the stingray.

Although .. a true paintballer would say the feeling comes from any marker you use :)

Cheers and good luck

Well, u want to rent a gun before buying, so u kno how the gun shoots and feels like. But i bought a spyder compact 2000 for $90, and started to upgrade from there. For the barrel, u should either get a Dye stainless steel at http://www.firstcallpaintball.com, 32 deg. Carbon Fiber Stainless steel, or a lapco bigshot.
