what do you think about the size of the guys that play paintball? I know the little people play the front-line and usually the big ones play the back. In my case i like to play the tape line. At 6'5" and 246lbs im no small guy and i respect the logic behind putting little men up front. So where do you think the big mans place in paintball should be? (not all people make good back players)

your like a tree its probley hard to hide right? this is one game that smallr guys have the advantage there faster and can generaly can find way more places to hide you probley would probley be better from about mid to back but i dont know your style or your capabilitys either so i couldnt tell you ask your teammates or friends that play pb with you

well, in my local outdoor field its not bad at all, and all sup' air ball bunkers are big. Remember tho, think, big guys have big power to haul their @$$ to a good spot. Thats why i like the tape line. I usually dont play the front for that reason, that would be a stupid move on my part. So i adapt to the playing situation and hold my spot, give support, and advance up when necessary. I have been in some odd positions in small bunkers, but they work :-)

Speedball!! i love that, although bunkers are smaller, when i sneak up on the tape side and get behind the enemy its all over :-) i have had more eliminations in speedball than regular games.

oh yeah, theres this one guy at our field, hes pretty good too. he is taller than me and must weigh at least 350. Hes got a planet shocker and skill to boot. And personally, i think a good team has a array of different sized players, just look at team image for example :-)

i guess size doesnt matter that much better player are really good at snap shooting fast and acurately and blend well with some training and the proper suits anyone can blend in well i am making my suit and camo taping may gun cause i dont care about looks because when it all comes down to it its about not being shot

i think size does have a factor when a captin thinks out a team plan. It would make sense to send your smaller guys up front and let your bigger guys add support in the game. And your right, when it comes down to it, if your shot you are no good for the rest of the game.

I'm 6 feet even, about 200 lbs, I play wherever I'm needed. I don't care for the front, of course I play rec ball and woods ball, no tourny stuff. But some of the same principles apply.

i agree with all of you, im 6'4" and i weight rouphly 300, i always stay away from the front line, ive gone for the flag before but it was hard and only becuase we had the team distracted. i usualy stand in the mid section giving heavy cover fire when needed. i play woods and speed ball, woods is probably better for me because of the bunkers, speed ball is only fun on infladable feelds.

im 5 10, 180, and really fast, so i uselly play the front, but we have a player who is 6'6, but only weighs like 200, becasue hes really thin,. Hes a good person to snipe at our field, becsue the only place to hide when ur sniping are trees, and hes so thin hes good for that. Hes terbile up in front though, becsue hes so lanky and slow. U have to think about the person height, and ability, not to mention speed, when thinking out ur game plan. I personally enjoy going around the other teasm side and picking them all off right in the back.

It's not so much size as it is speed and flexibility. I know alot of bigger people who can run fast as hell, and if you can contort yourself in different positions to fire out from awkward bunkers, you're just as good as a small guy. I'm only 5-10, 5-11ish and weigh maybe 150 pounds, so I'm small, but I'm a slow runner so I'm in hte back. It's not so much size, as it is speed and flexibility that determines who gets up front

In other words, You're Spastic

I've got a brown belt in Aikido ... haven't trained seriuosly in about 10 years, but I still work out. I've just got the point where I don't want to run my Arse off and be the first one on the front. that's for you younger guys, Ole Uncle Muck will cover your Arses.

i play football, so im crazy fast, and i work good up fornt . but i my problem is that i have really broad shpoulders, so when i peek out to take shots at people, i have to expse my entire soulder and neck. Im really fast though, so thats why i like to run up the side pof my field, and sneak around form tree to tree, and take people out fomr there backs. I move realyl quick, so most of the time, people stil think im in oe place, and then i shoot them in the back of thehead. I lovew playing in the fornt though, that is the most fun.

well I am 23 6'0 and 175 and I have to say I am in fairly decent shape I am good for the 100 yard dash I am fast but I don't have alot of endurance... even when I played soccer I was always playing sweeper because I was fast enough to stand at mid field but quick enough to retreat to play defense if the need arose.. and I like playing up front :)

hehe playing front is soo much fun..you get in HUGE firefights and you have to keep on your toes or you're gonna get gogged. that's what makes it so fun :D:D

I'm only 12, I'm 5'3", and about 85 pounds. I swear in speedball I can spurt short distances like a jackrabbit and I can move up really fast. Once I moved up and this guy who had an angel didn't see me ans I pegged him in the middle of the goggles with my backup gun (winchester durango). It was awesome. I am a pretty good front player.

If ur aggressive and move around a lot, size doesnt really matter because it doesnt give the opposition a lot of time to get a chance to hit you. But if u sit still, small players have advantages because large players usually have more sticking out past bunkers or barrels than small ones. Im a small player (5'8" 125 lbs.) but im extremely aggressive. Ill rush the hell out of anyone. Its aggravating when I play because sometimes my teammmates dont have the guts to get up, move with me, and give me decent backup.

Muck: Sweet, I'm in Aikido/Aikijitsu too. Only yellow so far, orange soon though. My size is a lot like TL, only I'm a little bit taller and about 5 pounds less. I'm 17 by the way. I do a lot of sneaky low to the ground running.

I really miss training regularly ... I recently heard that my Sensei was in a pretty serious car accident and injured his spine. He was very old school, only four belts, white, blue, brown and black. There was a lot of training between each belt.

Anyway, I'm a little more, er, Rotound now than when I was training ... It's kinda hard to get to the front before all the young ones get there.

And TL, you're right, once you get the front you really have to be aware of what's going on or you'll end up with a face full of paint. Even in Rec ball, it's happened to me more times than I'd like to admit.

I like being in the back, because of the responsibility that comes with it. You gotta call out the enemies positions, or you lose. You gotta cover your front men, or you lose. You gotta be the one calling out who does what, or you lose. It's fun, but at the same time, if you do lose, alot of people look to the back players for an answer why it happened. Still, i think what pretty much sums up my position is this...

It's fairly common for me (or any other back player for that matter) to take out at least one tape runner off the break. Not alot of talent involved, just lay a rope of paint for him to run into. And this poor guy is out within 5 seconds of the game starting. As a back player, doing the shooting, I'm having more fun than that guy is :D

yeah it's liek that in sparring tournaments too..i know i've had my share of concussions and getting my stupid arse knocked out cuz i wasn't paying attention..and i know i've ended up with getting paint everyone cuz i wasn't fully aware too..:P

I think that is the most aggravating thing about Rec/walk on ... you throw a bunch of total strangers together and only a handful actually know how to play as a team ... The rest are just there to see how much paint they can waste. If you can't trust the people behind you to communicate those things you listed, you're doomed.

Nothing to be sorry about. I play with a core group of about eight and we stay together on the same team. but, you're talking about 10 or 12 other people on the same team. We can work with some of them, but the others are just useless ... They don't listen, they make stupid moves, or in some cases, they shoot their own teammates ... Very Unlike Tourny Play I'm sure. Some time back I posted about a tactic I called the Newbie Rush ... Well, sometimes we let those stupid players move in first, the rest of us just hang back and listen for the incoming fire, then after we see a few of them start to leave the field, we move in.

Man, my sensei scares me ;) He's got a 5th degree Aikido and aikijitsu blackbelt,he's an army veteran, he's a certified sniper, he used to be a prison guard where he beat up several people severely, he tosses up boards and breaks them in air, he blindfolds himself and beats up 3 other blackbelts from our class as a demonstration, he trains us with a real gun loaded with soap bullets, he's a really nice guy, he invites our class to cookouts at his house, and he only charges $5 a class. He has belts in several different martial arts, I seem to find out about more of them every week, like last week just for fun he taught us some Wing Chun. And a guy like this lives in Southern Ohio. He's unbelieveable. And none of this is made up.

My Sensei looked like Buddha ... short, round and bald. Was actually a really sweet guy. He was a Marine Recon in Vietnam, served in Japan at an airbase ... had a bucket full of secrets concerning the nature of his service overseas (If I tell ya, I gotta kill ya  ). He also took on multiple opponents in class, empty handed adn with clubs, bokens and whatnots ... And he trained us in what we called "Bull in the pen," everyone formed a circle around one guy, and then they attacked at will (thank God my name isn't Will). But it was always fun, and Sensei was very humane.

I am 5 10 and 150 pounds. I am very fast, so i like to move a lot. i think it really helps because you are just very versatile when u play this way. Although it is very humbling when i am on one of my violent rushes and i get gogged by the little kid with the talon 5 feet away from me. But hey, when your a FAKE NAVY SEAL, it is somthing u just gotta fight through.
