Ok guys, heres the deal. My dad and aunt are seriously considering building a very nice paintball field. My aunt owns 80 acres of land, so that is the most expensive part that we dont have to worry aobut.

Now, what im asking you, is what kinds of courses should we build? What are YOUR favorites to play at?

And, what else would we need to get this thing going besides: fields, compressed air fill station, rental guns, paintballs, masks, harnesses, staging ares, a snack bar thing, and a mini pro shop. I think thats all, but i figured id ask just incase.

Lastly, what should we name the thing?

If you are gonna respond to this thread, please be serious, and dont spam. Thanks.

Personally I like spool fields for Speedball. Hypberball is good times too, but those two won't take up 80 acres.

I suggest a sort of replica town thing, we have one in Arizona, and everyone loves it. Wooden Buildings, 2 towers on each side of the field. There's a trench on one side of it with a couple spools and brush along a majority of it.

You can do a lot with that many acres, include parking with it too. Also, don't forget netting for around the snack bar and what not, where ever everyone isn't wearing a mask. You should have a shootin range with a chrono, maybe 2.

With the snack bar and where people have their equipment, I suggest uncluding some kind of cover, like a roof or something to keep the sun out.

Oh, don't you need a permit or liscence to run a field or something?

wow... lots of land...

you could set up like 4 squillion fields on that...

i say 3 speedball fields... and 2 woods fields...

airball
spools/hyperball
trenchs/mounds

attack/defend fort
uhh... and one like draco said...
----
and running water... port-o-poties suck...as would an outhouse...

tables... covered tables... lots of snacks...
maybe include lunch in the rental package...

Yea, u need some permits and stuff for sure. theyre pretty inexpensive tho.

And i completely forgot about a chrono station, and i just forgot to mention netting and stuff. Also, by staging area, i meant like a roofed in place with some picnic tables where u can get all ur stuff ready, and u could eat there too.

Spools sound real promising. We will for sure have a hyperball field and mucho woodsball, mounds, and supair later on. We were kickin around the idea of a fake old western town also.

Keep the ideas comin guys.

dude, theres tons of peeps tryin to do this...u dont realize what it takes....u cnat jus buy everything and "open" a feild...u gotta promote it for one and u know how many permits it takes, on top of the land its gonna cost u all a good 80-100k to get it goin IF ITS GONNA BE DECENT!

We already have the land, and there are a lot of permits, but those dont cost too much. I think the most expensive things would be rentals. And i know u have to promote it like crazy.

I just dont see how it could cost 100k.

make sure you get a couple speed ball fields separated far enough away from your rec field that you can host tournaments and open play at the same time.

I suggest making hybrid fields for your rec ballers. That's where you have a combination of woods and bunkers. Get some spots where it's just pure bunker ball and some mostly wooded areas.

There's no need to have more than one field to start out will. Leave yourself room to expand later.

woods building tip: clear out the brush and make some bunkers :)

I LOVE hyperball fields as long as there is a LOT of cover...I means lots!!!

I personally suggest you look into the crowd you have.

Woods play? I love villages and urban-types of warfare and mazes. More the merrier. I also love trench systems or similar, bridges, towers, and castles, gives me a distinct advantage because I learned to clear trenches and whatnot.

If you KNOW you will cater to tournament players or speedball fans then I highly recomend a dirt course (dirt as bunkers, check out www.pballcentral.com) 1-3 hyperball fields (2 5-man and 1 7-man), 1-2 airball fields (5-man and 7-man perhaps?) and then maybe 1-2 woods courses and maybe even a village just for the heck of it.

Be creative, a trench system would be fun for speedball players, or maybe make a maze-style system!

$5,000.00 for each field is reasonable, maybe 3k for hyperball. With four speedball fields, the cost is somewhere between $12,000.00-$20,000.00

Rentals...you will want about 10-50 depending on the number of people coming, so figure $5000.00 at the max.

Then water and stuff....

It won't be cheap, I suggest that if you want to just try it out, get a small field set-up, maybe a cheap village and a hyperball course and get friends to come and play and get the word out via mouth.

our hyperball field costed $10000. 10man.

good luck with the field, keep mind on the little stuff, go the extra mile to make people have a good experience. if you can sacrifice a little money to make a person have a really good time, it will be well worth it.

Thanks a lot for the input, i really appreciate it.

Yea, we were definitely gonna start out small. Mayb like a spools field, and a hyperball field, and a few woods fields. We'll probly have about 20 rentals too.

But, if it makes money and stuff well definitely add a supair field or two, and a few more hyperball arenas. We are definitely gonna have those hybrif fields too. Keep the suggestions comin guys!!:)

okay, let me give you a few more things not related to paintball but very important.

location - im not sure where this 80 acres of land is but thats a lot of land to be downtown wherever you live. make sure it is close enough to the city that people wont hesitate coming there because of distance.

electricity - this is very important to have because you will eventually want things like a tv to watch your favorite paintball vids, speakers to blast music while youre playing, lights for eventual night play etc....if the property does not have electricity it could cost a lot to put it out there. check on that.

permant structures - building codes may prohibit permanent structures on the land and thats probably not what you want.

plumbing - same as electricity.

other than that, sounds like youve got a great opportunity

Here we go.
Woods
Sup Air
Hyper
Small Town (not real, just a bunch of sheds basically)

Also have a small building for cooling off and relaxing. Supply vending machines.

10k? Wow...hmm, 5k for a 5-man then (basic math might not work).

Hyperball, airball, speedball are the best. Attack & defend are pretty cool as long at you have a nice set-up like a fort or somthing. Woods can be crappy if you do not have good woods to play in.(IE: no natural bunkers)

your sarcasm isnt appreciated and the fact your reasoning is comply wrong dosent help your case. you stated 3k for a 'hyperball field.' not a 5 man or 10 man etc. also, 3k is different than 5k by a whole lot of money. finally, a 10 man field doesnt have twice as many bunkers as a 5 man always. it commonly has a little less than that twice as much. go away.

Make sure u get a really good ref staff. bad ref can ruin ur business. if they're not safe and not PROMOTING safety, u have a greater risk of accidents. That can really screw u out.
That's it for now, good luck w/ ur business !!

contact your local electical coop and ask for free spools, im sure they wont mind giving them to you.

i say 2 woods (20 acres each) and a couple of concept fields, (hyper pipe, speedball, hyper ball) etc
maybe a fort field, and gravel roads inbetween each field. seeing as there is 80 acres, i say get an atv and a trailer to carry peeps around in. PROSHOPS!!! this is a must. trust me. vending machines, and restrooms too. rentals? ive seen some field tippmann packages for about 3k for 20 tippys, paint, masks, you name it... PAINT DIVERSITY. 1 bore size isnt going to be enough.
