View Full Version : Problems with my rat ...

Well first of all (and most important), my impulse's LPR is incredibly weird. If I turn it in too far, it cuts off air supply completely, and it is RIDICULOUSLY sensitive. I can hardly turn the knob (I'm talking about less than a centimeter turn.) It will shoot 200. Then I turn it about half a centimeter and it jumps to 250 then to 300-310. My team lost 10 points from hot gun penalties last night and I'm about to throw the gun out of the window. Also, i am getting FSDO even with the LPR. I'm going to buy a new hammer and some other stuff soon, when I get home I will check my dwell. I already have a NDZ Slickshot in there (supposed to stop FSDO ... guess not!)

Does anyone have any idea how I can fix these problems?

I take it you're using an ANS Jack II LPR? Mine is sensitive too. That's why I generally make small changes in velocity at the Max Flow, not the LPR. With the LPR installed, your marker should be pretty consistent, sounds strange that you got hot gun penalties. I'd do a thorough cleaning of the Maxi, valve, ram/hammer assembly and soli. That always increases consistency for me when it hasn't been done in a while.

Also, on fsdo, turn up your dwell. I had no fsdo, then I put in an lpr and it was unbelievable. I'd let the marker sit for 10 seconds and the balls would be dropping 5 feet in front of me. All I needed to do was to crank up the dwell. That cured the fsdo.

I remembered right after my post I took my max-flo down from about 200 to around 175 and I'm shooting a very consistent 285.

Turning up my dwell means that I will have lower efficiency right? That sucks but I'll so anything to cure this FSDO ...

Turning up the dwell will cause the gun to be less efficient, but that's a small price if your fsdo is really bad. After talking to the guys at epbo, they claim that most cases of fsdo are due to a voltage problem on the cricket board. Turning up the dwell increases the voltage on the first shot and eliminates the problem. I'm no electrical engineer, but that's what they told me and it worked to cure my problem.

Also, when Dow 33 gets old it gets sticky, so cleaning (valve, solenoid, ram, etc..) never hurts.

I don't believe that voltage thing, sorry. Go pick up your impulse, right now (if you have fsdo.) Now push the bolt forward, and pull it back. You will realize that the first time you do this, it sort of "sticks" and is harder to pull forward than if you did it again. Well at least that is what mine (and every other impulse with FSDO that I've touched) has done.

yeah on my old cocker i had a jack II and it was amazingly sensitve, i suggest buying an evil respirator, solves many problems and cleans up the front end of the gun

make sure you don't have too much dow grease everywhere... that will cause a lot of fsdo... same with the voltage going to the solenoid(was will fix that)... try that out...

With my LPR installed I'd get fsdo if the marker sat for 30 seconds w/o shooting. Turning up the dwell fixed it. fsdo that bad couldn't be caused by a sticky bolt, particularly since it would happen even if I had just fired 30 seconds earlier.

Yeah I had to sort that headache out too. Almost said to hell w/ LPR but you guys should check these out.

This will help you determine if you have voltage or bolt related FSDO

And there are some great FSOD threads here.

Smallies is the LPR/FSDo guru around there. Do a search on him.
