Hello,
I'm trying to sell my Tippmann in the trading forums and a person that was interested said that Tippmanns have terrible resale value. I bought it for 160 at my local proshop (i know you can get them for 120 online). but it's had less than 300 paintballs shot through it, there are not blemishes on the outside and its in top working condition on the outside. I also have extras to go with it like a 16oz chrome moly "stubby" co2 tank, flatline barrel, harness + remote line, etc.
im mainly selling just the gun and tank and i was thinking about 135 or so (with what i paid originally in mind). then if the buyers interested he/she could get the harness + remote line, and/or the flatline barrel.
but people that were interested were saying 110/115.... is that correct on what my guns worth?

Red Haze will wander in here eventually and he'll be able to help you. The thing with a gun (or anything else) is that once you buy it and use it, the resale value drops incredibly fast. And why would a tippmann have worse resail value then any other gun as long as they're in the same condition??? Tippmanns are durable, which would almost make them better for resail. I dunno, maybe I am wrong, but someone will correct me. $135 is a bit much for the gun and the tank. I would buy it for $80 max. But if they're willing to buy it for $115 then sell it!

shoot, guess im not used to net prices. locally people buy/sell for around what i was asking, but oh well... nobody around me's looking for a paintball gun. i guess i'll sell it for 115. Maybe. Thanks guys.
Selling it for 115 is one hell of a deal! I'd sell it in a heartbeat(if i wanted to) for that price ;)!
No offense man, but 160? My shop sells them for 140 and THEY even say they dont wish they had to price it that high, but if they actually want to make some $ they have to.
Anyways, hopefully you get a good 'rip off' ;).

tippmanns probably have the worst resale... its unfortunite... but i'd give you about a 1/3 of what you paid for it...
you could stick it on ebay in its original box and stuff and maybe get 110-120 for it though...

They're paying more than I would, considering you can get a new gun shipped for $130. $135 for a used marker and a tank isn't a realistic resell price, IMO.
Like quik said, if you've got someone willing to pay $115 for a used Tippy and a CO2 tank, by all means, sell immediately. I've typically heard that a proper asking price is between 50-66% of what the marker/accessories cost new. Red's 1/3 of what you paid is a bit low, in that I don't think any seller is going to sink to that kind of price ($40 for a $120-marker).

Well, it is in really good condition, I'm surprised myself that it isn't scratched at all. I mean, if you were to look at it you probably wouldnt be able to tell that it was used once.
The store I bought it from is the only one in my area. there is a Tippmann dealer but he sells the gun itself for like $200+. So locally that's the cheapest I could go, I don't know why I didn't buy online, guess I just wanted to support my local paintball store.
I guess I'll just let it go for 115. Were you guys suggesting that price including the tank? Or 115 just for the gun?
Oh, and incase you guys are curious as to what the conditon of the gun is, I attached a picture.
I have bigger, better quality pictures but they're too large to attach on here, so if you think the picture would give you a better idea of what it's worth e-mail me: andrewcs@digitalpath.net and I can send you a better picture.
Thanks guys. :)

yea, but you guys have no idea how good tippmanns resale is compared to mags, it sucks, big time, I have seen people put 2000 into there mag and barely get 500, it sucks, thats why you buy used mags, but in general a low end gun wont have great resale

A couple notes
- Terrible resale because everyone has one. There is a HUGE market for used tippmanns because majority of first guns tend to be tippmann, then they get a cocker :-)
-I would not pay $100 for a used Tippmann, no matter how great of condition it is in. Only way you can get anything around 120+ is if its a newb, or some middle school kid that doesnt know better (My nephew's friend paid $200 for a tippmann off of www.tippmann.com)
-If you bought a brand new car for $40,000, then drove it one stinking mile.... You just lost 10,000-15,000. Same with shooting the gun, just because you "tested it" doesn't mean its new.

exactly..if your target market will pay $400 for something from the Tippmann pro shop..you can charge a lot for your gun and get away with it. While an educated buyer would have no interest/desire to pay $200 for a Tippmann, someone just getting into the sport would.
and I think Automags and Shockers have worse resale value than Tippmanns.
