View Full Version : Flatlines WAY overrated

Okay it seems like EVERY game I play lately some kid is ranting and raving about the flatline barrel system. It was REALLY bad at the Michigan Monster Game. Everytime I turned around and looked behind me I saw about 4 people (usually little kids) with flatlines WAYYYYYYYYYYY out of range trying to long ball people. I HATE that. Its not a bad barrel but its not worth all the hype that it gets. It gets more newbie hype than anything else. Every game I would here someone in my platoon at the MMG yell out "THEY ARE OUT OF RANGE, ANYONE WITH A FLATLINE GET UP HERE." Like the flatline is some kind of technological wonder or something. Why waste paint at that range when you could press up and try to advance? I wouldnt complain but its like 110 dollars for that damn barrel. I have a CP on my Cocker and I can shoot just as accurate as that flatline and just as far and I payed 50 dollars for it. PLUS its easier to clean. My brother has a flatline and its a piece. It looks like it takes forever for the ball to get there and its useless at short range because the ball starts low and slowly rises. Is anyone else annoyed about all the flatline hype or is it just me?

Most of the people I paintball with have flatlines. And almost all of them are buying new guns because they hate the flatline so much. One of the people uses his tippmann stock over the flatline. None of them have anything good to say about the Flatline!!!

i hate it it sucks cock it is so dam big you can barely run with it it works good with big balls but t dont shoot anyfurther than any other barrel and it a lot less accurate at further distances and it is way way over priced oh yeah and about the big game i wold take over leadership if i heard someone yellin for a flatline you should of killed him

i dont like the size of it b/c its too big. but it was very accurate when i learned how to use it right, but i also dont like that it cant shoot throuhg a break. and i play speedball now anyways, so its pointless to ahve.

I never thought about breaks, how do you clean the barrel after that? do you have to take the whole fricken thing off?

A flatline will actually shoot further than your cocker with a cp barrel or any other normal barrel for that matter. When I used one it did shoot alot further and straighter than anything else Ive ever seen or used but I always got bounces. I think it was mainly due to the fact that i was using proball though, my friend who used hellfire with his had no problem with it. They do travel a little slower and I wouldnt use it on an everday basis but in a scenerio or something it would be a cool thing to use to shoot at people that cant shoot back.

when it breaks you can try to pull a squegie through, but its very hard to do. shooting hellfire must have been a b*tch for your friend, they are very brittle and i doubt too many would make it through the curves of the barrel without breaking. marbs worked the best for me.

the part i like about paintball is advancing. getting in real close to the oponet or sneaking up on them. sitting 120 or 130 feet away and shooting someone may be fun for some. but not me.

i will admit that the flatline doesnt deserve all the hype it gets but you can shoot about 100' farther than most people

if you dont use the shroud it can actually be easy to clean

i thought that the flatline was a small bore ( ) oh well

i havent noticed that the flatline travels slowly i couldnt see them coming from lord know how far away but i know that the paintballs do bounce easier than normal

if your havong a problem try using midnight pb's they seemed to work fine in my friends (heh nm :( ) "" barrel and they arent that long only 13"

Yeah, but tippmanns are long guns, a barrel that long makes the gun huge.

Try snap shooting with a flatline, just try. You'll laugh your *** off.

no the flatline is a very large bore barrel, its needs small bore paint to be able to roll through the barrel getting backspin. and while snapshooting is very hard, try turning the barrel sideways and you can curve balls around bunkers. it takes some getting used to, but it definitely has its advantages.

hah i know what its like trying to snapshoot a flatline lmao

IMHO tho i think they need to make it shorter.

1.No not even close the flatlines at our feild get maye 15 feet more than my teardrop.
2.It's just as easy to clean ether way you just take the hopper down with the switch and gun the squigee thru there.
3.The flatline is large bore like said earlier.
4.Yes they slow down shortly after they get up to speed but they float.
5.The olny problem with midnights is that you can;t see them in air.
6.It's actualy closer to 14 and on a 98 any thing over 12 is huge on it cuz the gun already to long.

they arent overrated , they are mainly for woods/scenario games. you wouldnt stand a chance in speedball with that

I got a lapco bigshot ss instead for my 98 flatlines since the backspin look like the ball is going 10 mph.

flatline is kinda overated by the fact of their advertisements.... i mean it takes awhile to get it to the flatline sweet position (where the ball actually flys straight, instead of curving off). I had one, most of the time, it took like 50 balls of paint, and wrench to fix it. The balls travel up to 10 fps faster for the first 100 feet (when the ball is in a back-spin), after that it goes down dramatically. Also, i doubt tippmann effect a team sponsored by tippmann, would rather use some other kind of barrel instead of the flatline.

I agree that Flatlines are WAY overrated. THEY SUCK!!! Me and my friend both have Spyder Xtra's w/ Upgraded barrels(Dye SS & Smart Parts AA SS) and we can kick thier ***. It takes thier paintballs so long to float threw the air to get us that you can dodge them.

well said opinion, remember there are some newbies here who love their flatlines, and we dont want to scare em off

I find the Flatline to be a very effective North East playing gun. I don't own one but when in the correct hands a Flatline equipped gun can make even bunkers a non-safe haven for players. They are over rated but defiantly aren’t junk!!!
