Talon, worthy of "Marker-hood"?

I have been looking at websites just at different markers, and I found that on the marker option most say marker and gun, and I got to thinking are they two different things. Then something struck me, is it only because of the Talon? I mean is a Talon even considered a Marker? Well help me find the information, interesting topic for me!
