not if it's not rear cocking.
if it's side cocking you don't need a beaver tail.
but some gun you can push on the rod to increase velocity so you need one if you have rear cocking.

i dont think so, but its nice b/c the rod often will hit you in the mask.

I don't know about other markers but with the Autococker it has to have a beavertail in order to make it tournament legal. The reason being, the velocity adjuster at the back of the marker could hit the player and would result in a very hot shot.

i dont know about other cockers but i have a 2k1 and if wanted to change the velocity i would first have to take off the cocking rod
You must have a beavertail for cocker's in a tourny because the cocking rod is attatched to the hammer which slams into the valve opening it for a brief second to release the gas. If you push forward on this rod while you fire it push the hammer harder making it hit the valve harder releaseing more air which would lead to increased velocity...some rec people do it

i dont think its like , if you dont have one you cant play
I think they'll probably penalize you though, just like if you're shooting hot
