Hey guys this site has alot of good information and I think that you all have the right stuff to help me out on my new purchase.
I wanted to get into Paintball so I did, it is my first and what i hope one of the only purchase that I will need to make for a while (Marker wise). I went out and bought a 98 Custom (Silver) and I got the basic package right now. So all I have is standard everything and a 16oz Co2. As of right now I have no complaints. here is what I have so far to really break it down and this is where I need your help. And yes I am well aware that much of making your gun what it really is comes from personal prefrence and all that fine jazz however there comes a time when there is such a thing as best performance you can look for. So anyways:
MARKER: Tippman 98 Custom
BARREL : Factory standard
Co2 : 160z.
and thats all I got, so ya I was wondering what do you guys think that I should add to this bad boy, I want to pull this sucker out and have it all so to speak. (So what I am asking is, should I add a sight, new hopper type all that fun stuff, barrel wise, what am I looking for? And is this really more of a Sniper gun or more of a blast your opponent down in gunfire? Please help me out boys! (Girls too if ya play!!) I am currently looking into making a purchase of a J&J "14 Ceramic Barrel. Whattcha guys think?
LMk thanks alot!

Good Choice:)
For upgrades, KEEP IT SIMPLE!!!!
Get a new barrel, JJ is fine, 14 in is alittle long for a tippy, look at 12 inches, then get a new trigger, 2 x triggers are nice, speed up rof and are comfertable and very cheap, a drop forward is also nice, dead on makes a good one, lots of tippy users by, finally a 12v revvy with x-board, this is a motorized hopper so you'll never chop and your hopper wont get jammed, you can get all of these at www.countypaintball.com or www.pbgear.com
HAVE FUN!!!!

I'm going to assume you have unlimited resources.
X-Core 8 stage X chamber
Phsycoballistics Drop Foward
Dye Boomstick
9v Revy (you dont need 12v for a tippy)
Lapco Powerfeed
PhsycoBallistics Double Trigger + Guard

New barrel Lapco big shots seem to be nice, A 12 or 9 revy, double trigger (i think i'm the only person that prefers single) and maybe a rocket cock or full boar.

My recommendation is that you play for a couple of months and find out what needs to be improved. If it is speed and size, DF. ROF, then go with Double-trigger or RT. Test stuff out on other Tippmanns if you can, I know this isn't what you are looking to hear but don't go getting a ton of stuff before you know if it will be able to match you. Make the gun match you, that's my opinion.

If you want to fling alot of paint at your apponents get an rt, double trigger, 12 vlt. or Evo 2 (if you have the money), and you might want to get a rear cocking kit or rocket cock. As far as barrels the best one's i can think of are cp's, j&j's, and dye booomsticks. if you wanted your gun to be a little more air efficient you might want to get an expansion chamber but you don't really need one.

Well...
If your a big Tippmann man like myself Id recommend the 14" Tippmann Sniper Barrel. But Im sure any of the others are just as good or better.. I just like to keep it simple and represent.
As for the other stuff like the double trigg and the bad to the bone hopper... Well.... I would only really recommend goin out and getting them early if you had the money to burn.. The only real things you need to worry about now is the barrel and the tank.. GEt a 20 oz. I use a 20 and 16oz. Its AAALLWays good to have a backup tank.. I havent heard much about other people thinking that it is that much of a good idea but just about every time I go play we always have to end early because some chump has run out of air sooner than we all would like.
And if you like to mess with your gun as much as I do id just go to the old home mod sticky and do a few of those.. Polishin the internals and all that good stuff.. Plus if you do get that barrel id polish her down.. or even your stock one.. Never know when you might have to go back to usin that little sucker..
The one thing that I like best though about my gun is the paintjob.. Its what gets the most remarks and comments. So if you can bring yourself to take that first step and sand down that silver finish you most likely wont regret it if you can paint half-way decent... And hey, If you mess up you can always sand it down and do it over. So what are you worried about?
Best of luck bud.

So you like 14in stock barrels? I have no need to say more....another thing DO NOT get an x-chamber, they are just stupid, A/S is cheaper and much better, also do not skimp and get a 9v revvy, sure you don't need a 12v on a tippy but what if you want to go high end, or sell your gun, no one wants a 9v revvy.....

in testing, the ceramic killed the sniper in accuracy for the same price.

now you want to get a set-up like this...
barrel- optimum length is 12" but 14" is ok too. j & j ceramic barrels are very nice.
motorized hopper- basically any of them are good except zap mach 404, 9 volt revvy, VL quantam stay away from those!!! you want to get a ricochet (2k or ak), empire reloader (i have one, i love it its a revvy on steroids..), 12 volt revolution (revy) w/ x-board, evolution 2 (very nice)
2x triggers are nice.if you plan on playin tourneys RT's arent really tourney legal (check with the officials on that.).
drop forwards are very nice since its such a long gun.
and then maybe like a rocket cock, or full boar kit to top it all off.
the first 2 are the upgrades you really need.
