I had heard alot of talk about paintball being in the Xgames within the near future. When I told my freinds about this they said something like:
'thats dumb, can you play paintball in a half pipe?'
My argument was that the “X” in Xgames stands for extreme, and paintball is number four on the extreme sports list.
They’re response was:
‘where did you find that out, a paintball magazine?’
Yeah, I did, but I didn’t really see how that was relevant.
For a second I thought they had the Xgames confused with the Gravity Games, but I never had a chance to ask. They just kept saying how stupid that idea would be. I disagree, but what do you think?

The two I spoke to had played before. One was a skater, and the other owned a Winchester marker. I think the skater was just trying to make the statement that skating is better, and the other guy...I don't know what his problem was. Yeah, paintball would be really cool in the Xgames.

You mean about paintball being in the Xgames? I have read up a bit on it, and it's still be discussed. Who knows, but I'm pretty sure paintball being included in the Xgames is more then just a rumor.

I don't think paintball should be considered an extreme sport. Reason? Its too safe. Don't get me wrong, I think it'd be cool to see paintball televised, but cmon, its just not extreme. There's literally NO WAY you can get injured from playing paintball, other than slipping on some dew and breaking your arm. It's not a dangerous sport, that only the most dedicated will ride through the pain of it. (like the X-games usually are.) Those skateboarders and bmx riders get injured. I mean seriously injured, like broken bones and internal bleeding and stuff like that. Dave Mirra has broken his shoulder, and had his spleen removed from riding, but he's at the X games. Find me a paintballer that's done that and fine, I'll call paintball an extreme sport and probably sell my gear the next day. :)
There's been some good articles on televised paintball, I think at http://www.paintballtimes.com and the general gist o it was "not yet." I have to agree, I think in its current form, it'd be a poor spectator sport to the general public. No central focus of attention, people wouldn't know what to watch. The best way I think they could do it is to make each player in the game have different colored paint, so when someone got eliminated, it'd be clear who made the elimination, and they could show a replay. Then get some system for encouraging quick action...I don't know how they could do that without totally messing with the sport though.
Anyway, I think it'd be cool to watch paintball. It'd be a blast seeing how the pros work the field.

I dont think paintball is a dangerous sport, but it's definatly an extreme one. Boxing, it's dangerous, and it's not considered extreme. I would have to disagree with the entire extreme/dangerous thing. Skating, Snowboarding, BMXing, there all only as dangerous as you make them. Paintball IS an extreme sport, it's #4 on the extreme sports list. And no, not just my paintball mag's tell me that.
