A good gun to tinker with?

Hey,
I'm wondering what a good gun to tinker with might be? Basically just a cheap gun that would teach me the basic workings of a paintball marker, and maybe something I could work on to make it a better gun, though not something I'd use to actually play with, (unless I let a friend borrow my spyder or something) so I don't really care how accurate it is, or how loud, or how often it chops paint (unless its ridiculous...) I'm thinking some guns might be beyond all help (be samurai) but a stingray I heard is a relatively simple operating gun. If there's any reason getting a stingray might be stupid, or if there's a cheaper gun that's somewhat reliable, I'm open.

i beg to differ, spyders have way more upgrades and they are easier to learn and take apart. tinkering with a tippman would be a pain in the a ss because it splits open like a clam you have to take out (i think its 8) 7-8 screws just to get on the inside. you cant buy new valves, bolts, springs, LPC, trigger frames, regulators/expansion chambers. so i would definatley have to say that a spyder wowuld be the better way to go if you are looking to make it custom and tinker with your gun. the onl company that i know of that makes upgrades for tippmans, is tippman. spyders you have way more choices of things you can do.

No, M98 custom would be better.

Venom, the only reason spyders have more upgrades is because its just the same upgrade made over and over again. Also for a guy wanting to tinker being open to take the gun in half and see everything on the inside is probably a plus.

m98 are anoying to open and close u gota get all the pins on one side then u gota worryabout the spin on the elbow thing not coming out

if i was just going to mess with the gun, i would get a talon or a stingray or something like that. i would never waste 130 bux just to mess with a gun

exactly tippmans just dont float my boat. its my opinion i dont care if they were officially declared the best gun, i still wouldnt use one, i cant hold it comfortabley. sorry tippman fanatics dont try to convince they are the best though.

If you just want a really cheap gun to tinker with and you already have a spyder then get the stingray, ive heard of some people doing crazy stuff to a stingray and actually making it a decent gun.

Nah go w\ a rebel - those things are sweet, the looks and feel, just get the basic VTL model for like $80

I think he means a CHEAP gun, wich he can muck around with. Also the AutoCocker doesn't work the same as most other markers. If a newbie messes around with a Cocker he's / she's gonna have a nice time fixing it :).

Go with a Spyder Customs, I dont know about the 98 it seems like a ****ty marker, Also there are so many possibility swith the spyder. Just go with whatever you want but I suggest the Spyder 2 in 1 java red, looks sweet, and is cheaper then getting a Custom Annodized and putting a bottom line on it allthough its the same thing.

ever here of a gun that they call the autococker, i think it has SLIGHTLY (LOL) more upgrades than a tippman

Um well I am bassing this on the tippmann website so im probly wrong, but where do you get the Idea Cockers have more upgrades.

because you can upgrade every part of a cocker and the cocker has parts that dont even exsist on most guns. i am positive that a cocker has more upgrades than a tippman, with out a doubt. i dont even know of any companies (except maybe psycho ballistics) that make aftermarket products, besides tippman, but who wants to buy aftermarket products from the company that makes the gun? and besides no matter what you do to it its going to be a tippman!

Damn, its all preferance about tippman,spyder,and piranha. I personnally like Spyder. But thats just me. And im purty sure that the cocker has alot more upgrades then the Tippman.
