with 420 you can get a really nice used automag... and the HPA that goes with it...

autocockers are lighter than mags and A-5's, but mags and autocockers are all pure preference, their both great guns just what u want to be shooting and what u like,. i recommend cocker tho. if u dont mind a little weight and little maintanence, get the mag, if u dont mind a some maintanence on ur cocker and having a light gun and like the back block :D , get the cocker, but its all up to u.

o ya and for the type, i recommend 2k3 vert feed or used cockers, get above 2k tho, 99 and below upgrades are hard to find... as for upgrades, hpa tank, barrel, drop foward, if u dont already have one with urs, venturi bolt, and a revy if possible

Are mags low maintanence? Like tippmanns. Or are they similar to the cockers as far as maintanence goes?

i've heard there less maitanence, but i prefer cockers anyways, more upgrades for cockers too

What A-5 are you going to get? You can get the standard A-5 for $219 (888paintball.com), the A-5 w/ RT installed for $270 (888paintball.com) or the A-5 w/ E-Grip installed for $350 (countypaintball.com). The E-grip is a savings of about $50 dollars and the RT is basically free because a lot of places charge $280 for the basic model. I would choose the gun before the upgrades, although these guns have "firepower" upgrades on them.

<<i am... with that kind of money he could get a mag that would seriously rape any a-5...>>
in what sense? the "how many balls can i waste in 30 seconds contest"
i regularly go out against players with $1000 guns and nitro systems only to have them get shot by a $300 gun like mine. it's all about the player - not the gun.
shoot 15 balls a second, and better believe that when you're reloading your hopper i'll be ontop of you with my semi-auto screaming for a surrender.

ya, its what u want, mags and autocockers are high end, but A-5's are not as high end, but u can still play well with any gun u use

nah, for 420, no way he could get a mag that would outshoot an a-5 w/e-grip,
and which ones better, i'd personally prefer the a-5, and i know a guy whos selling a cocker worth 700-800 cause he wants an a-5

I'll vouch for Adrenaline Junky. I know the same guy he's talking about.
He has an autococker (nothing is wrong with it), but he wants to sell it, in order to get an A5...for purely rec play.
He already own an Impy which he uses for the tourney scene. However, he's now getting into Rec play as well, and doesn't want to bother with the cocker out in the woods. He'd much rather have a sturdy, reliable Tippmann product out in the woods.
I can't blame him myself.
I'm thinking about doing the same thing in the future... The A5 with the RT DOES look pretty darn sweet. RamboPreacher gave it a fairly good review himself. I trust his opinion. (Rambo has done reviews on LOTS of markers...)
Tipper...if you're planning on going into tournament play, I'd take the advice of some here and say to forget about the A5, and look at mags, cockers, or a stock Palmer Blazer. (You guys ALWAYS forget the Blazer! :P )
However, if you're going to stick with mostly woods/rec play, than stay with the Tippy, and don't let anyone else talk you out of it. You WON'T regret it...

Your reviews have helped me narrow down the competiton. One new gun enters the race. the ICD Bushmaster w/PDS OR The 2003 Black Magic Autococker? Cast your votes You decide the victor.
Thank You for your comments.
