I have been a member of paintball review for quite some time and during my stay at this site I cut back on what I post and don't post often with the realization that 90% of anything you say on this site is retorted w/ some gun owners opposing view points. Reading through the post I realize people with have differing view points and such but my guns better camo or no camo higher ROF paintballs image etc is always a concern of the sport and it's players but when you lay it all on the line I am have become aware that no matter how you peg the sport it's fun! I don't care why anyone here plays or if they play like a war sim or say I killed you shot you marked you or whatever to me it doesn't matter What all of this is buearocratic bullshizot LETS FACE IT PAINTBALL IS WAR LIKE! Anyone who has ever got gogged for the first time I have ever talked to has agreed that it crossed their mind (thank god that wasn't a real bullet!) It's a sad fact that society judges but they do I have been questioned why I dressed in cammo's toting a marker into the woods for some friendly woods ball and I love it, I could give a d@mn about much of anything thats just the way I am I don't care what any stiff chinned bigot thinks about paintball as far as I am concerned there not good enough to lick the sweat off my twig and berries.I know when I go to play the last thing in my mind is hmmm I wonder what my neighbor thinks of me my gun , the only thing I know is hell yeah I am going to play paintball!!!! My point THERE"S AALWAYS SOME GUN BETTER THAN THE ONE YOU OWN THERE"S ALWAYS SOMEONE BETTER OR LUCKIER THAN YOU AND THERE'S ALWAYS SOMEONE WHO DESPISES WHAT YOU DO , REGARDLESS OF IT'S DANGER YOU DO IT ANYWAY WHY BECAUSE IT MAKES ME HAPPY AND IF IT MAKES ME HAPPY DOES IT REALLY MATTER WHAT ANY ONE THINKS?? ANY ON THE SAME PAGE WITH ME OR DO I STAND ALONE?

My first time playing, the very first round I was in, goggle shot, right between the eyes. It definitely was in the front of my mind to never go into war. Paintball is a war game. If you argue with that, you're too zealous defending your love of the game to open your eyes. It's a game, where you fire a "gun" in order to "shoot" other people. If that's not a war game, what is? I'm not saying that paintball is a realistic representation of war, or that people that play it should be shipped to war, because they're idiots that are obsessed with shooting things. Paintball doesn't (or isn't meant to) glorify war, but it is a war game. It's meant to produce a feeling in people that comes with hunting and being hunted and being in combat, without the fear of actual danger.
So yeah, I agree with you. It's a war game, but hey, its fun, so I'll do it too.

I believe that why it may technically be a war game, I think we should still go around calling them "markers" and it is a team sport. (just to save a bit of down cutting by one faction of anti-gun lobbyists or so). Yes there is alot of heated debate on these forums. Some of it has a point and some of it does not. That is the same with EVERY human institution. Flip on your TV to CNN or CSPAN and see if there isn't any argument there (and that is supposed to be the pinnacle of human society). I find alot of what you said correct and truthful but you wasted alot of time in saying it to the general public and I wasted alot of time writing back because in the end, no one cares what you wrote. They will go on believing what they believed in before you wrote and the same goes for what I say. The only thing I try and do every time I get on here is to help one person think openly and consider another's point of view. The biggest problem with humans in general is the inability to think outside their tiny little world for one second. If there is a kid that only has enough money for a Traccer (and I know one) I ask the other people at the shop to please stop flossin their Cocker and Angels in front of him. I remember when I didn't have enough money for anything but a PGP and people were waving their tricked guns in front of me. Anyway, time to end this. My point in short is "Give a moments consideration to the position of the other person before typing"

Well, I've always enjoyed reading a well thought out post, so congrats on writing one :) but I gotta disagree. Paintball for you may seem warlike, but that's the way you play it. YOu play with camo, in the woods doing "scenarios" and the like, and that's all cool. I could understand how that could seem warlike to some people. I play wearing brightly colored jerseys, nothing remotely close to camo or burlap, playing around inflated balloons for cover, brightly colored guns, judges keeping track of the score, semi-finals , finals, prelims whatever. If you ever said you got a kill in a game you'd get some strange looks too. I honestly cant see any resemblance to war in the paintball I play, as there just isnt any. So maybe paintball the way some play it is similar to war, but my paintball isnt, so that's why I'll continue to argue a distinction between the two

Darn straight Twitch. There are two different types of paintball. One maybe considered by some people to be warlike but the other is less warlike than football but just as competetive. You want to talk about warlike, go look at hockey and lacrosse. (no offense to lacrosse and hockey fans, but you don't have to worry abot sport acceptance)

when i was playin today my cover was a large yellow inflatable bunker our field calls a weenie. Very very warlike, yes?.. No! One game, as in many games, my cocker f'ed up, and so i just unscrewed the n2 tank (less weight) and ran for the flag, got it, then got nailed. but i got the 10 points for the flag pull. anyway, would you kill yourself to get something? maybe you'd lose people, but would you run out knowing you wouldn't make it back just for one objective? i know i wouldn't, it just isnt warlike.. huh.

Preach it brother! screw the anti's. I dont care what you dress in while you play the game. You have a 'gun' and you shoot people. This (U.S.A.) is supposed to be a free country, and as long as no-one gets hurt, ther is no reason to stick your head in my business and ruin my good time, just because you are on some P.C. crusade.

I would have to partially agree with all of you, but either which ever way you play paintball it is how you picture the game in your head. You could see the game like twitch who sees it not nearly close to "war" related and maybe none of you play as if it were war related nut that's the basis of the game. I see the game as mearly a sport which takes skill. "War" however as I see a difference you dont practice for and play with your friends, and dont just go to fool around with. War is serious and should never be taken as a game. Though paintball is revolved around "war". The fact that people try to have an objective to shoot and get each other out "kill" is exactly the same as war. And with that said I dont see it as a war game but the main parts of this game are "war" related...just my opinion.

I have to say some good feed back on this....and ultimately the way it comes down to warlike or not warlike the two do have very similar action but the one main thing I may point out is at the end of the day or match even I know that the people around me are all friends and fun to hang with because they enjoy the sport just as much as I do!
AND DAS... I agree I hate it when a newbie or less fortunate player sees my gun and just stares my gun down I wish every one could afford to play with a gun that makes them happy I went through alot of guns from a be stingray to a pirahna to a cocker to a B2K2 and I must say I am very satisfied with my current gun it rocks I wouldn't trade it for the world and everytime I see someone stairing down my gun I ask 'em wanna try it?? and let them play a game with or just go pops some rounds off because it's lets the know that hey it's cool some day you'll stand in my shoes and feel like it's your turn to return the favor onto someone else!

That's really cool of you to do that man. I am saving for a good gun right now. I will probably get a cocker or something I think looks cool. I like the black magic cockers. I play speedball, I found a cool field where they have those big black plastic tubes. I love playing there, I think they call it hyperball actually, but I don't even try anymore to keep track of all the different names for paintball. I'm with twich. I will defend competition arenaball to the bitter end, woods is warlike, what I play is not. They are both here to stay though, and that makes me happy as a player.
