I am ordering my impulse in a few days, i was wondering if you guys can let me know the DO'S and DON'TS with the impy. By the way i will be using anti-siphoned co2. thanks a lot guys.

There's quite a bit. Read the FAQ. It'll tell you just about everything you should know.

keep the "pess releif valve" on the gun and dont turn the reg up to high and when you gas up then gun make sure the bolt is in the back and dont do anything stupid....

SET IT AND LEAVE IT!!

i'm kicking myself every day when i think about how awesome my imp would have been if i had left it alone (it was set up by EPBo and i HAD to messs with the settings and now i've fugged it all up and i'm having major problems with fsdo)

yeah i ****ed with mine and blew my guage, well actually the reg wasnt locked down so i screwed it on all the way(not knowing what i was doing) then I gassed it up and luckily i just blew the oring on my front gas cap and not blowing my solenoid

Do's: get a vision board and the rat factory internals from e-paintballoutlet

Dont's: don't let the guys before me, who posted, use your gun, if they messed up theres they are cursed because the impulse is the simplest gun out there!

thanks alot

anyways dont let peopel at your field shoot them unless they know what they are doing ie. owner of one.

Just a few quick comments on other remarks.

Im assuming he means the pressure release valve (PRV). This is by far the most important piece of protective equipment. It opens up at around 200psi, working like a burst disc, but protecting your solenoid. NEVER take it off and gas your marker up. Oh, and keep a spare around, just in case yours wont reseal.

First, a vision board isnt a required upgrade. Most people either have force feed hoppers or cannot shoot 13+bps. The stock non vision board is capped at 13.7bps, which is good enough for stock. You should invest in an EvoII for your impulse. They feed softer than halo's, and in my experience work better.
Second, all impulses are different. What works well on one impulse will create inconsistancy or horrible efficiency on another. The best way to acheive a solid balance of aftermarket internals is to experiment with different combinations. Higher velocity may decrease efficiency, and the best efficiency stock is around 180psi and then adjust dwell for velocity.
Third, I would not suggest letting anyone who isnt a tech touch your gun. Im pretty overprotective in general, but most people dont know what they are doing. And will **** something up. And leave you to fix it. except...

Letting someone dry fire in the parking lot is fine. They may want to see how it feels, or are thinking about getting one themselves. I would not let anyone play a game with my impulse unless they were a trusted friend and I know where they sleep.

More fun additions:
- Keep your hammer assembly (ram, hammer, bolt) well lubed, but not overly so.
- Dow33 is your lover. It goes everywhere and is great field fix for leaks.
- Spare O Rings are a must. You'll end up replacing one to two orings a month, or more, with normal use.
- Save money by using Dow33. Lubricate every O Ring. Use a small amount, just enough to cover it.
- Spare parts spare lives. (its a pun)
- If you take care of your impulse, it will take care of you.

oh, and the progressive barrel is decent enough so that a barrel kit should be towards the bottom of your list of upgrades.

does anyone have a working .gif file of the impulse showing how it works? (kinda like meph's m98...)

edit: NVM, i read the faq... my bad :P

I made this in photoshop just for you.

May I present my ghetto impulse cuttaway.

http://www.uaaepi.org/images/impulsecutaway.jpg

1. The maxflo or other regulator forces the pressure put into the marker to under 200psi. The air then flows into the empty chamber 2.

2. The air then is split two ways. It sits on this side of the red block (valve) and also flows into the LPR (3).

3. The LPR regulates the pressure down and then transfers the air into the bottom (tiny chamber) where it flows into the solenoid (yellow). If you do not have an LPR, then the air from stage 2 flows directly into the lowest chamber.

4. When you activate the microswitch, the solenoid transfers air from red (in front of the ram) to blue (behind the ram) and pushes the ram, hammer, bolt, and bolt pin forward. The bolt forces the ball into the barrel as the hammer strikes the valve.

5. The hammer then remains in this position for a time determined by the dwell. The air from stage 2 flows into the open valve and up through the bolt and pushes the ball.

6. When the dwell time ends, the solenoid clicks and transfers air from behind the ram (blue) to in front of the ram (red) and pulls the whole hammer/ram/bolt/pin assembly back to the rest position.

I hope that helps. I dont have any fancy gif animator or anything. Im sure someone does though.

read the faq. it will help you alot in the long run. DON'T turn up your pressure over 200! ALWAYS lube up your gun after a day full of play (if you have a stock bolt lube it up everytime) if you have a delrin don't worry about it. once you have your gun set (like the other guys said) LEAVE IT ALONE! (dwell/pressure that is) i'd go HPA sooner or later though. FAQ FAQ FAQ FAQ FAQ!

let me add the PRV opens at ~240PSI

Solenoid will blow at around 235, therefore the prv does not open up at 240, because it would render it useless if it did so.

See, he just saw it first. But the solenoid cant temper much over 230psi, and I wouldnt go over 200psi for safety reasons. Seriously, dont listen to him. The PRV opens up well before 240pis

About the Dow33...Do you need specifically Dow33 lube or can i use like gold cup gun oil? becaseu lube is more spendy but not over like 10 but still i already have gold cup so might as well use it right? unless impulses need Dow33?????

You NEED dow 33. Unless you don't like a warranty and you like a messed up impulse(with gold cup anyways).

Yeah, you dont NEED dow 33, but its heavily recomended. I would not use gold cup, as it doesnt work. You need to lube the o rings, and if oil gets into your solenoid, then kiss your warranty goodbye, along with your solenoid.

There's guys selling 1oz jars of dow33 on ebay for like 5$ I'm not sure if that's a deal or not, 1$ shipping.

So when my impulse comes, I:

-Lower my pressure before screwing in the tank,
-Set the dwell when in front of a chrno,
-Set the Normal operating pressure around 180psi,
-Lube the o-rings and hammer with Dow33,
-dont get water on it or throw it out the window

thats roughly it right?

Lube valve too. And every 4 cases or so, your reg.
