after i did something really dumb with my impulse i decided on making this thead, i hope it catch on....
ok here it goes:
I took the whole impulse apart for a good cleaning, i put it back together, and put the barrel back on (there was a paintball inside the barrel without me knowing it). i gas it up, holding the a towel with my left hand, i plug the barrel with it so i can dry fire. i dry fire it (with the paintball still inside of the barrel) bam!!!! :eek:eek: i nearly took my index finger off with the shot. Im amazed my finger is not broken, but just really sored.
ok that was the dumbest thing i ever done with my impulse, im hoping no one as dumb as to do the same thing, and i hope people can share what the dumbest thing they ever did with their impulse

A friend of mine put the bolt pin in front of the hammer and fired. The hammer and the entire body were reuined completely. It was funny cause it happened to someone else.
In my history, I've seen some pretty damn stupid things happen. Some people put teflon tape on their LPR nipple.
Just general stupid things.
I saw someone accidentally shoot like you did, only they didnt cover the barrel and it hit his dad.

my friends gun broke like 3 paintballs in his taerdrop, so he decided he would cover the barrel and dryfire to get some of the paint out of the porting. he held his gun upside down to get all the paintballs out. Then turned it back over without taking off the hopper LOL and shot his hand! Had the biggest welt i have ever seen.

OK- not dunbest thing I ever did, but done by customers...
Customer was threading in the hammer assembly and must have cross threaded it. he clamped the grip in a vise and use a big adjustable to tighten it. now its realy jamed up, so he grabs an inpact wrench and socket to remove it.
I'm sure I don't have to tell anyone that the grip frame is not designaed to take the tourqe of a 500 ft lbs. inpact wrench
end result-- grip frame bent, body twisted, hammer assembly ruined-- and he broke off the feed tube at the body
BTW- SP had pity on him and fixed it for $125
Dumb award #2
customer was out side shooting his new Ultimate Impulse. Revy started spinning so his was out of paint (Right!) he turns off the revy and turns off the max flo valve on his 68/4500. Paintball comes on OLN and he is watching it on him NEW 72" TV. He jumbs behind the couch, peaks out the side and takes a couple of snap shots... Yeah- you guessed it- you can still shoot a couple of shots on the air traped in the max flo- and of course the gun still had paint in the feed neck
" gee hon. I had to have them pick up the new TV-- something went wrong with teh screen...."
Dumb award #3-- customer was trying to replace the littole o-ring in the top of the max flo reg piston. he took of the end but couldn't get the piston to drop out. Simple enough, he would just turn on his 4500 psi tank, that would push the piston out where he could catch it... You think a paintball hurts? try a brass piston!
Dumb award #4-- customer- a long time automag owner- broke a bunch of paint in his gun. he cleaned out the barrel, and as there was a 5 gallon pail full of watter right there, he dunked the Impulse into the pail and pulled the trigger a few times....
Dumb award #5-- customer ordered and got one of the first DYE barrels for the Impulse. tried to thred it in, and the threads bound up about 1 1/2 turns in. Called DYE-- are they sure this is an Impulse mount-- Yes they are. grabs a strap wrench, puts it around the barrel and realy wrenches on it-- gets about 3/4 more turn and it is hopelessy bound up. Trys to use the strap wrench to loosen it-- but it won't grip enough. Gets out the vice grips, wraps the rubber band from the strap wrench arount the front portion (this was a boom stich) of the barrel and claps the vice grips down-- and ofcoure turns the front section out of the barrel (this was before the fronts unscrewed)

I've got a couple stories myself...
this happened to me: I had just cleaned and oiled my Spyder TL+, and I didn't wash my hands before I went out back and shot it. I loaded up the hopper, screwed on the tank and barrel, and went to pull back the bolt to cock it... except I still had some gun oil on my hands. Yeah... bolt slipped, and went back and forth multiple times... and my index finger was pinned between the thing that's supposed to protect you from the bolt and the bolt... yes, very swollen, very bruised index finger.
And the after a day of speedball, my buddy, who shoots a Nasty Imp, was messin around with another friend's Shocker. The friend with the Impulse was emptying the shocker, and thought it was like the Impulse... only one ball in it at a time. So he shoots out one ball, then puts his hand over the barrel to dry fire... and takes 300fps to his hand at point blank. Prettiest welt I've ever seen.

i have a few to show how dumb i am. well first of all we got 3rd at a tournie awhile ago, and for some reason my tank is on my gun and I THINK that no paint is in the gun. so i'm cleaning the barrel (barrel off the gun) and somehow my trigger goes off and right into the bench i'm sitting at w/ my teammate next to me! i almost pissed my pants. that was the dumbest and most dangerious thing i've ever done. i learned a large lesson that day (friend was fine it didn't get near him, jsut the fact that it could have). second, i had my halo on my gun then, and so i THINK i have all the paint out because the hopper is empty but theres one in the feed neck, so i'm in the truck that we use for the field, and my gun goes off and shoots me right in the hand...
lastly, i'm just practicing w/ some friends and messing around, i have like 3 balls left, so i lean around a corner and my gun like gets pushed up againts my bunker...one right in the foot :(

lol this isn't a big welt story or anything but it is still funny.....Me and some friends were at our paintball field we made it was a wet damp muddy day...He loaded up his hopper and off he goes....stands up....dumps out all 200 or so rounds onto the ground...curses some and sits back down to load more into it....stands up....same thing......sits back down....loads....stands up...falls out AGAIN.....he is really mad now.....REALLY mad....he just lost 600 rounds outa pure stupidity....he puts more into his hopper and this time though makes sure his hopper lid is shut...stands up...and it stays closed..WOOOOOOO:eek:
and another....me and my friends were at the field we made and my friend had just gotten his impulse back with his new blade trigger...super short and light...we had just played one game and were getting ready to play another....i was tweakin my gun a little and my friend had left his gun on.....he was cradling his gun and it goes off...hits me right in the left thigh from about 4 feet away:pissed: ....i was not pleasant after that....:pissed: ....it hit me about 6 inches from the crouch area  ...if it had hit me i woulda gone ballistic after recovering.....when we finally started the new game after that scare...we played and it was going slow.....then i bunkered him... ....now he has a couple big welts on his back....and they nasty but so is the one on my leg.....

First, FOM your stories are the best!!!!
This past Sunday I was standing near a player with an Angel and a HALO. He is chopping paint really bad so I suggest that he checks his ball detent. He set his marker in a gun stand, so it is still upright. He then goes and removes the ball detent. The problem is he did not turn off the halo, so it emptied his HALO into the barrel and managed to push a couple out of the barrel and on to the floor. The guy was shocked as this happened and just watched.
I laughed as I walked away.

Ive got a dumb story....
My imp (or maybe my tank) has a problem when gassing up. I will screw in the tank, and when I shoot and simultaneously put any little pressure on the back of the tank (o say...when im shouldering it), the tank comes unscrewed just enough to depressurize. (thing is, after i screw it back in again, it takes 2 people to take it back out)
well one day it did this, and since I always have my maxflo way down when i gas it up, i began to crank up the maxflo as i always do. But this time the gauge wasn't moving, it went to like 100 maybe and stopped. so i kept turning and turning AND turning. I finally realized my tank was unscrewed.
So me being an idiot "DUR, TANK UNSCREWD I SCREW BACK IN NOW" and the gauge went WAAY past 300 and then began to spew air out of every hole in the gun.

u bet ur poo was bloody for a week. I made my friends a-hole bleed, we were at our frield and both our guns went down so we borrowed a tipmann and a spyder victor and it was one on one. So i ran up and bunkered him , but the gun was inaccurate before so i left out about 9-10 rounds as fast as i could into his croch-stocmach-butthole area as he lay on his back screaming, he told me it bled lol.

ur right but i was replying to the post about getting shot in the crack and when i shot my friend in the @ hole. But yea it doesnt have nething to do with the imp....and the crack story seems pretty far out. Its like for some reason ur balls are haning out and ur friend shoots u there 6 times, who would do that?
