Do I need a gauge for my reg???

I have a WGP Ergo Regulator for my Spyder Victor and I need to get a VA. I'm going to get the Bob Long VA from County Paintball, but it is not ported for a gauge. I don't want to get a Lapco Dual Adapter(ported for gauge)+ a gauge because it would be too much $$$. I don't want to drill the Bob Long VA either...do I need a gauge to set my reg once I get the adapters? If I don't need one, how would I set it?

no you dont, all you have to do is turn velocity all the way down and the reg all the way down
then test it and turn it up slowly then when it is reasonable turn it back a little and use the velocity adjuster to fine tune it
