Hello everyone, i wanted to ask everyone a few questions before i started. I was wondering, would the Tippmann A-5 be a good gun for beginners or what would you all recommend? And also I have been thinking a lot, how much does it actually hurt when you get shot? Really bad??

well i personally have never used an a5, but it seems to me that with the assisted feed it should be a fairly good starter gun. and tippman is known for reliability.. your best bet is to try out a few different markers such as an electric spyder/clone also and see which one you like. as to how much it hurts.. it does hurt.. but come on i took my girlfriend out paintballing for her first time last weekend and she got shot several times, and she's a wuss and not athletic.. she said it wasnt as bad as she was expecting.. but just like anything you have your extreme circumstances where it hurts a little more and you might get a little bruise :D good luck in your first game! and dont be afraid to get shot!

I think it hurts more to get hit by a rock. I personally wouldn't get something that expensive right away. A 98c would be a better beginner's choice in my opinion or a used Spyder Classic.

the a-5 is a pretty good marker but i'd recommend a different marker. i'd probably say go with a 2003 black dragun basic, spyder e99, or spyder flash classic, they all go for about $150.

i wouldn't recommend spending too much since you've never played before. try this basic package for $99:

http://www.firstcallpaintball.com/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=779

Description:* This Black Dragun Compact Package includes everything you need to get on the field and start playing. The package includes a green vertical feed Black Dragun Compact, black loader, 12 oz. co2 tank and V-force armor mask.
Price:* $99.00

has pretty much everything except a harness and pods. ou can upgrade the marker later on if you get more serious about paintball. start off with something inexpensive or just rent for a while and see if it still interests you later on.

as for whether it hurts or not - it really depends on the range. besides, you don't notice the pain because you're usually having too much fun.

tippmann is probably a good choice for you since it will have to withstand the ruggedness of the woods. Tippmanns are well known for durabilty. The 98C is a bit longer and heavier than most guns. The Spyder is more compact, and is an electro, but is also a nice gun. How much are you willing to pay for the gun, and package(mask, tank, hopper, etc.)?

First, get a very good mask. Next, get a tippy 98C with a nice barrel (not too long!). Also buy a 12v revolution loader. Then save the rest of your money, buy a pack if you need one, and buy some paint.

wow, 150$? You can get a real good barrel for that much. I'd say a DYE Ultralite. If you have anymore money, you should get a Freak Kit, where you can put different bore sizes to match your paint.

If you don't want to spend all that money on a freak kit, look for a custom products one piece barrel. Depending on the type of paint you shoot, CP barrels come in different bore sizes. Find out what size your paint is (i.e. .688, .689, .690) and get a bore that is one more than that (if your paint is .689, gte a .690 CP one piece). I've found the best results come when you don't squeeze your paint too much.

3. and 32 degrees paintballs
i also might throw in a chest protecter just cause i want to wear one (mom's orders)

tippmann 98c
12" custom products barrel
reloader revi
16oz CO2 tank
proflex squeegee
flex 7/flex 7 ize/ or v-force morph mask...

don't buy paint yet... most fields wouldn't let you use it anyways... field paint only...
