I'm thinking of getting a dye SS barrel
is this a wise choice?

Hell yes!!!!!! the Dye SS are some of the nicest barrels out there.

is there another barrel that is of equal quality for a cheaper price?

A dye aluminum is the same thing basicaly just Aluminum and not SS, and it's cheaper.

I have a Teardrop and its aluminum and I'v beaten the **** out of it andthe olny mark on it is a chit on the out side of the barrel from my brother droping on the sidewalk.

You can get a Lapco Bigshot/autospirit, but there not gonna be as quiet as the dye ss and also the Custom Products one piece or two piece are good.

I don't like the lapco barrels cuz my 223 Ruger mini14 is quieter. The CP one piece are pretty good and are cheap.

J&J ceramic or J&J brass, both good, both cheap. esp. the ceramic for 40 bux. best buy.

I didn't for get it but there not as cheap as the other barrel, but AA stainless is $50 at www.firstcallpaintball.com

They are around the same price (SS an AA) and pretty much the same in performance, so its a personal preference.
