Is buying used a good idea?

I was interested in buying a marker off ebay. The description says "Gun was used and maintained, and works and shoots great, but is missing a screw at the top of the sight rail."... should I be a little wary since a screw is missing, and they didn't say "maintained well" or anything? How reliable is buying used stuff off ebay, for people who have experience with it?

I've bought two markers with tanks off ebay. In one auction the tank was advertised as a 114/4500, when I recieved it, it was a 114 3000. When I brought this up with the dealer he said "Well, I'm pretty sure it's 4500, since that's the only tank I have" ... after I told him it's not he said "Well, you don't need a 4500 tank for that gun anyway" :rolleyes:

Aside from that, no problems.

It depends on what gun your buying how risky it is.

Guns with electronics are the most dangerous.

Guns like automags are your best bet.

I personally tend to buy used as very little as possible, I just dont trust people at all. Sure it sounds like i'm being a jerk and I should have more confidence in others, but at least this way I run no risk of ever getting ripped off. Ever.
