As a hunter for 15yrs of deer, geese, turkeys, elk, bear and many others i have learned that the last thing i want to do is stick out like a sore thumb.. but in paintball everyone seems to wear bright cloths a have very shiny guns now i know that alot of paintball is not done in the woods but i would still think people would try to blend into the setting alittle more..
mntnair
because we want to move away from the "hunter / military commando image" and into the paintball is a sport image.
the public will find it easier to accept paintball as a sport if we're running around with bright jerseys and bright markers inside of full camo.

sure, blend into the setting, thats a good idea.. so you want to wear camo behind a bright blue/yellow/orange/green inflatable bunker?.. not only do bright colors fit in, as said ^^, it helps our image.

I only have woods fields where i play. and everyone i play with wears camo, so if i where anything but camo i have a dissadvantage. I would rather wear jerseyes and what not, but i cant.

We are so good that it doesnt matter if you can see us or not, you'll still get painted. I see kids wearing camo and can easily spot them just buy their black hopper, or black mask. Thats all I need to get them.

All very good answers.. basically it goes:
Helps Paintball's image
Jerseys look better than all camo
On a speedball field (traditional field IMO) the colors on most jerseys will blend in with the bunkers more than camo will
Annoed Guns: Look cool
That is bascally it. But mostly, IMO, its because we want paintball to have a 'sport' image.

Oh yah and unknown, Ripcal is bascally talking about woods games (which is untraditional paintball (IMO)..like..not the original yaknow?) Camo in woods cames would be beneficial..but REAL PAINTBALL (speedball) it would not.
Cheers :D

I think the best way to change the publics perception is to invite more people to play. About two months ago during a pickup game, a police cruiser pulled up. The cop told us that the neighbor had phoned in about "a bunch of army guys with aussalt weapons he saw heading into the woods."
The landowner who was hosting the game went over to his neighbors just to reassure him that everything was ok, and ended up inviteing the guy to come join us for a game or two. His neighbor did so and we gave him my spare to use as well as an extra mask. He played for three games and he had a huge grin on his face when we were done.
I geuss the guy had never heard of paintball before, but now he is a convert. I have no idea how he thought paintball guns look like assault rifles, to me a paintball gun of any color looks nothing like a real gun.
The group I play with mostly now is organized through a church. If you belong to a church, or any social organization for that matter, Start up a paintball club. It's a great way to get people to try out the sport and to make sure you get to play on a regular basis :) Just be resposible about it and keep it in mind that when you introduce a noob to the game that how you act toward them will color thier perception of the sport for the rest of thier life. Make sure you show them a good safe time, and dont abuse them with your skills the first few times they play.

Nicely said. I agree w/ you totally. I play with a church group and another group also, and its a lotta fun. You guys gotta try it! :)

I'm going to try it. I recently discovered that my youth pastor is in to paintball. I'm going to try to play with him when I get the chance. It might not look good, because I haven't been to church for about two months.

First off, I'm Pro-choice. I believe we all are smart enought to make the decision of whether or not we hunt OURSELVES. It's none of the governments buisness! Secondly, I support diversity. I don't think we should all wear burkenstocks, eat granola, shop at REI, or drive volkswagen vans. I believe diversity is what makes our country strong and I would like you to feel the same way. Please read the following with an OPEN MIND. Remember, minds are like parachutes; they only work when they are open! First off, are you a vegetarian or do you kill helpless chickens and cows so you can enjoy some meat? Maybe you hire someone else to kill your food? If you are a vegetarian, do you support the rights of plants or do you raise them in a controlled environment so you can eat them? I wonder if you are opposed to hunting because you don't like the idea that some people actually kill their own meat or maybe you don't like guns? Could it be that you are so misinformed about the real facts on how hunting impacts wildlife that you have rushed to a hasty conclusion? The facts are that hunters have done more for the wildlife of this country than any anti-hunting law will ever do. We contribute more to conservation than any other group because we care about wildlife and our great outdoors. If you don't believe me just look at the wood duck or canadian goose who were at one time both in danger of becoming extinct. Concerned sportsmen got involved and today we have record numbers of each. hunting isn't what poses a threat to wildlife, it's loss of habitat. Without groups like ducks unlimited, Delta, Trout unlimited, quail unlimited, pheasants forever, the rocky mountian elk foundation, etc many thousands of acres of public land would be shopping malls and apartments and there would be NO wildlife whatsoever in those areas. The fact is, the best way to protect animals is to get sportsmen involved. Money that I and every sportsman spend each year on hunting is used to save habitat and research wildlife. what I read from your post it is very obvious to me that you have no experience relating to hunters or have spent any time afield. You need to get out of your SUV and actually spend some time off the hiking trail! Maybe then you will actually have an informed opinion!

You all can tell that cranberynvodka can't play paintball for nuts. If someone wears camo, all they r trying 2 do is blend into the scenery. U maniac freaks out there think paintball is a fashion show. Actually, it is not. Its about strategy, and camo will help in the right places. So keep ur mouth shut cranberynvodka, becuz maybe u don't like camo, but others do!!!!!!!!

people wear jerseys because we want people to recognize paintball as a sport, in most sports teams have uniforms. in paintball they just look better :D, also they suit the needs of the avg paintball player, breathable, cool, and protective. Hunting and paintball are seperate sports, they have nothing in common (or atleast they shouldn't) hunting animals is one thing, hunting human beings is another thing, paintball isn't about "killing" and "hunting" and war simulation (sometimes it is in scenario games) paintball is about "eliminating" and "tagging". it's a sport that involves team work anf strategy more than stalking before the kill. even when i play woods ball i wear the same clothes i wear playing speed ball, a green elwood longsleeve shirt with a large bull on the front. it's no easier to see me than a guy w/ a jt jersey or a girl with full body camo, most of the time you wanna be behind a tree, and the avg paintballer can't see through those. also, if you move well and have a lot of skill, you won't be tagged before you can tag your opponent(not enemy).

many of us think this is about a game but it is much more"but it is still a game" im not sure if we all know it but animals in there natual setting are much much harder to hit with a paintball that any person in pbreview think about. hunters have pasted on skill s over many generations. dont think because you live in a city and you have a paintball gun you are better the anyone else...........
