this will probably sound like a really stupid question, but does the freak increase the accuracy of your impulse substantially compared to the progressive, is the accuracy comparable to a cocker (i know im going to get flamed for this one), or is it still lacking

I really haven't seen a big diffrence between my boss prog vs my freak barrel but the freak looks nice :)

yes, the accuracy is comparable to a cocker, same with its range :eyes:

turns out, i went from a cocker to my impulse (which i have recently given up btw) and i noticed little difference between my $800+ cocker and a stock impulse in consistancy/accuracy/all the crap) - oh but it shot faster....

Autocockers are great guns for people that love tinkering. When I was teching autocockers, it was a blast. I loved doing it. But for playing, an autococker just doesnt have the ability to keep up with the faster and smaller guns on the market such as the Intimidator or Angel.

At Huntington Beach and Las Vegas (NPPL) the only teams using autocockers were those from Eclipse or Worr, which were both given EBladed Autocockers. Otherwise, there were maybe one autococker per 70 players (10 teams).

Also, a stock autococker is cheaper than an Impulse, or a Bushmaster, but frankly, I would take an AMG over one. They just arent competitive in a market that has disproven the most prevailing lie concerning accuracy. They are no more or less accurate.

They are however, slow, inconsistant stock, unreliable, and unbalanced. So, yeah. I am speaking strictly of the stock autococker, upgrades are obviously going to change that. And a freak is a good idea. That or a pipe system.

i was thinking about the pipe also, i just want extreme accuracy.

i was leaning more towards the freak because, if you have another gun you just have to buy a new back, while with the pipe you have to buy a whole new system

if you want extreme accuryacy, get a boomstick or a ultralight

Closed bolt systems are proven to be more accurate, correct?

If the inside of your barrel has a nice smooth finish to it, it should be very good. You just need to spend money on top quality balls IMO because if you stick a ball in a barrel, most of the time its oval in shape and you can see where the 2 points on the ball touches the barrel. I have a freak, it makes my gun look wicked but then again I wonder what else i could have spent that money on :|

ONE WORD: SCEPTER

This is the best barrel kit out there by far, and I'll tell you why.
1. Compression Fittings - this is the only insert system out there that aligns the insert with the tip (no dumb o-rings like the freak)
2. Sturdy Inserts - they are made of aluminum, just like the Freak, but much thicker and more durable
3. Consistency - the freak inserts have been known to be way off in diameter, but the scepter has consistently sized inserts
4. Look - chrome looks damn good

I'd take a Scepter any day over a freak.

I have a full kit on my Impulse and when matched correctly to paint, it is very accurate.

ok

sorry:cool:

but i just figured everyone had gotten over that by now

no, closed bolt is no more accurate than open bolt

accuracy is 5 things :
1) paint match
2) consistency
3) paint quality
4) barrel finish
5) velocity

a freak isn't going to make your impy any more accurate than a single barrel that correctly matches your paint. The point of hte freak is not to directly make your gun more accurate, but to provide you with the tools (the inserts) to match paint as close as possible (well almost, they could have an insert for every thousandth but that would be expensive) and thus make your gun more accurate. If you only use one kind of paint there is no reason for a freak set, just buy the correct bore-size barrel.

The kit is so versatile, if you buy extra tips you can have a barrel for any occasion. IMO the freak is one of the most accurate barrels on the market. I have boomsticks and ultralights and shot many others, but alway result back to the freak. The progressive is a pretty decent stock barrel but my freak is dead *** accurate, one shot one kill, baby!

its paint to barrel match! thats why the freak and other systems like it are so good because they give you the whole kit w/ different bore sizes for different bore size paint. guns like the shocker and autococker are going to be accurate and even more accurate w/ a good barrel/barrel system w/ a good paint to barrel match. but guns like spyder clones arn't really known for spectacular accuracy. but a better barrel would help w/ them. in short, get a freak or something like it. i love my boss though!
