From what I've been reading on this forum, you do not need an aftermarket bolt unless you have blowback.

Like stated above, unless you just feel the need to replace the bolt it isnt necessary. The stock bolt is pretty decent. You might see a little increase by changing the bolt but it wont be anything major.

i think the tantrum bolt is teh best. it has a new design. It now has a single o-ring and the breach is .690 the bolt is .689. He said no blowback and its not made out of cheap delrin.

heres his e-mail in reply to mine
I first asked if there was his bolt had blowback
No it didn't because it was made to be .689, the inside of your tube
is .690, s oit sealed real well. I coudl do that because i'm not using
delrin wich is cheap plastic, i'm using a non-swelling very high grade of
plastic.

However because of teh new design, it is necessary to put a single O ring
on the front of the bolt. I want a bolt that'll work in all bushmasters
and bko's including the new ones with the O ring detents. So it became
necessary to put an O ring on it, so yes it now has a single O ring. It's
there to prevent blowback in non-O ring detent style bushies and it's there
fo rthose people who think that a bolt must have an O ring.

if you need more info e-mail the tantrum guy on tantrumpaintball.com .

I hate to tell you but delrin isn't "cheap plastic" look around and you'll see it's pretty desireable for a paintball marker bolt.

hello that is why you see a lot o fdelrin bolts because delrin is easy to get a hold of which means its cheap. like why you see a lot of civics on the road cuz they are cheap.

Taken from www.cnc-precisionmachining.com
Delrin

DELRIN: Acetal (the generic name for a family of products) provides high strength and stiffness along with increased dimensional stability and ease of machining. Low moisture absorption, low coefficient of friction as well as good wear properties make Delrin ideally suited for close tolerance mechanical parts. Lubricated and glass filled grades are available to enhance Delrin’s already excellent mechanical and thermal properties. Delrin is commonly used for gears, rollers, electrical components, ROV components, and bearings and bushings. Please see the General Engineering Materials Page for technical specifications on all grades of readily available Delrin, or request your own personal copy of AIP's Material Specifications Brochure."

And according to this page http://www.calplasticsandmetals.com/acetal.html

Delrin WILL swell, but only .25% that's a TINY TINY amount.

There is nothing wrong with delrin. While it is not the most EXPENSIVE plastic out there it's far from being a poor material to work with.

not true, while it may be easy to get a hold of and it may be cheap that is not why it's used. it's used because it's much lighter therefore reducing kick, it does not create nearly as much,if any, wear on the bolt and on the inside of the marker as a metal bolt would, and you do not need to oil it. and delrin blots do not have o-rings that need to be replaced. so when you consider all the things delrin has going for it, who really cares that it looks and feels cheap? as long as it works well right?

how do u test if u have blowbak?

if it is major blow-back, just put your hand on the low rise (or high rise if ur bko is older) and shoot it. if you feel air come up, then u have blow-back.

if it is slight, just put a piece of tissue paper on the feed neck, and if you see it wave, or see that air is comming up, you have blow-back.

personally i don't want to say anything bad about icd, but i bought a bko, and it had blow-back. so i e-mailed them and they still haven't e-mailed me back (its been 2 weeks and 3 e-mails to them). i just wanted to see if they'd sell (that's right sell, i wasn't demanding) me a new bolt. grrrrrrr. i'll probly just buy a vapr bolt, or a tantrum bolt.

why would you want the same bolt? If you want to replace the bolt then get a tantrum or vapor. I tried to make my bolt swell to cut blow back but delrin doesn't swell a lot. i read somewhere i think on this thread that it swells .25%. LOL that knock on delrin swelling is so overblown. I am getting a tantrum bolt because they redesigned it. it now has a o-ring.

Delrin does swell, but it's a TINY amount like a fraction of 1%. I'd have to do a search to find the exact ##, but the point is while it does swell it is REALLY exaggerated as to how much.
