the bolt of a closed bolt marker is in a forward position when the marker is fired. it's the opposite for an open bolt marker.

When fired, all bolts are forward in a "closed bolt position"...it actually refers to the idea that there is no bolt blowback, in other words say for example on my 98C when I shoot, that cocking handle on the side will go forward and then back and so on. With a closed bolt operating system, you will not see that bolt movement nor will you see much of your bolt. The idea is that you don't have as much of a risk of dirt getting into the bolt assembly area...for the record, it really has no bearing on accuracy.

Yeah but an angel is open bolt, but you can't see it. Maybe I'm wrong though.

I have been told by Angel owners I have played against/with that it isa closed bolt system...but I can definitely atest to the first response being off base since the only way the gun will fire is in the closed bolt position, visible or not.

Well having either closed bolt or open does it really make any difference..

No, in reality a closed bolt would only be slightly less accurate than an open bolt and it would only have the slight advantage in efficiency because you have a smoother running interior at the cost of not being able to have the higher tolerances of a more rugged designed interior operating system...hope that makes sense.

OK closed bolt is when sitting, the bolt is forward. Open bolt is when sitting the bolt is back. When you pull the trigger the closed bolt fires, slides back lets in another paintball and goes back to sitting. An open bolt slides forward, fires and goes back to sitting, allowing another paintball in.
