They all shoot the same, so get the cheapest of all, which is the progressive.

I just got an sts 2k3 and it came with a free case of Big Balls. I also got a CP 1 piece barrel which many people say is a great barrel. With Big Balls the stock barrel shoots awesome, even better thean my CP. Big Ball is cheap paint and shoots really well with the stock barrel. I'll just have to find a better paint to use with my CP.

Well I just got done selling my cocker with a 2piece cp and backs, and I didn't like it, the boomstick (which many rave over) is nice, but too expensive, and IMHO all SP barrels are great, my favorite is the Big Daddy, I can only find em in spyder threads which would work for you (pirranah = spyder) however they are $100 so I agree, this is your first marker, I would just get the progressive or tear drop they are both great and you will not regret it.

you can find booms for about the price of an AA...I would take a dye barrel over sp any time...(geeze seems like I am really ripping sp on these boards)
Dye
J&J
CP
I have had good luck with all of those so far, specially for the money on the last two. My boomy has been one of my favs, so I would lean that direction. I have a Pro Ts w/ a 14" boomstick, and although pirahna barrels are decent out of the box, you will notice an improvement with the boomstick over most barrels out there. I reccommend spending the extra 10 dollars or so and getting the dye...
Also check out j & J too....I use the boomy on my pro ts and the j&j on my cocker...Then I leave my all american on my shutter..(I normally loan that gun out)
The beauty of a sp barrel is the larger bore size compared to the dye, it gives you more selections in paint, but less accuracy I believe.

MillaJ you can get a Smart Parts Big Daddy for $40 at www.firstcallpaintball.com I got one a while ago with a splashed front, it's so tight. If you're interested in that then go for it, its around the same price as the progressive from other places.
