I know that in the 98, it's CVX valve lets runs better on co2, but does the a5 run better on Nitrogen or co2?

actually...some guns, like the 68 carbine if i remember right...would not work on nitro...but all modern day guns work better on nitro :)

Very cool Meph! Very good points and well written :blah:

Can I post that on my website? I see you've "copywrited" it. Wether that's true or not, I don't know. :crazy:

meph your awesome - i am now a die hard CO2 fan (panned on buying a hpa tank but hey why not get an anti-siphon)
and about tippmann being tough on the pro-carbine (wich IMO is the toughest tipp) if the weather is under 60 they actually RECOMMEND that you run a siphon tank for more consistancy in the cold - if the manual recommends running liquid you know its a tank that shoots paint

with my experience wiht my 98 when shooting fast with co2 the velocity spikes dramatically but when you shoot slow it doesnt spike but wiht nitro when you shoot fast its consistent but not as consistent when shooting slow.

*High Pressure Air (AKA: HPA; Nitro; Air; N2; Nitrous; etc...) is the way to go. HANDS DOWN.

Either go with that, -OR- if you want to stick with C02 you can match the performance of HPA *IF* you get the following mods:

Quality C02 tank
Anti-Siphon tube (goes in the C02 tank)
Palmer Stabilizer

*These 3 things will get you the same performance benefits as a high quality HPA tank will. It might actually help you a bit more too since the Palmer Stabilizer will allow you to fine tune the operating pressure down to the very last PSI. This allows you to adjust the velocity with the up most accuracy, and it will allow you to run the gun at its lowest properly operating pressure. That, in and of it self will allow you to get a decent increase in the amount of shots you get out of each fill of your C02 tank.

Of course some HPA tanks will allow you to get MANY more shots per fill then even the best regulated C02 tank due to sheer capacity. A 4500PSI HPA tank with a moderate capacity (cubic inches or CUI) will hold 2 to 3 times the shots per fill as a properly regulated C02 tank. Of course you are looking to spend at LEAST 160 bucks on one of these tanks, and more likely you will end up spending closer to 200 dollars or more.

Anti-Aiphon tube kit for C02 tanks:
http://www.xtremez.com/paintball/product_information.asp?number=TKCST&dept=177

[i]Cost break-down:
Quality C02 tank (20 oz): $30.00
Palmer Stabilizer: $115.00-$120.00
Anti-Siphon tube: $5.00

TOTAL = ~$155.00

High-End HPA tank (4500PSI@45CUI): ~$180.00
High-End HPA tank (low capacity 3000PSI@68CUI *same shot to fill ratio as a 20 oz C02 tank*): $80.00

TOTAL = ~$80.00 to $180.00

It's up to you, as to how much you want to spend. Also consider what type of gas is eaiser for you to obtain. Not all fields have HPA fills... nor do all shops.

id get a/s co2 with a good reg which is cheeper then HPA but will give you teh same consistancy but with a much smaller tank and many more shots per tank.

well thats why I broke the cost down. its up to the buyer, i just supply the info.

i think the 68ci/3000 psi tank will only get a lil over half as much as co2 on a warm day...i get about 700-750 with my 72ci/3000psi tank, compared to about 1200 on 20oz co2

And you must buy a Palmers Brass barrel. :)

I run the AK47 expansion chamber on my a-5 with standard co2 tank. I have run it in very cold weather (20 degrees and colder) and hot (105 plus) and I can run rapid fire, I can put a hot tnak on and then a cold tank on and my fps stays within 5fps of where I set it the entire time. I would not spend the extra money for the hpa especially since many fields still cant fill hpa.
