I would recommend getting a compact witha bottom line and a new barrel. that way, when you upgrade you won' end up replacing all of the parts that make a TL+ a TL+. thats what i did. I bought a TL+ and have basically a compact with no TL+ parts on it and all aftermarket parts that replaced the inadequate spyder parts. just my opinion, but i wish some one had told me this before i bought my spyder. oh well, you live and learn

umm so your saying get a spyder compact and upgrade it is cehaper?
Actually it costs more. Its like building a car by buying all the parts at Canadian tire.. you pay 5 times the price.
A lot of people get sucked into numerous upgrades that don't do anything..
The only upgrades for a begginer gun I would do is a new barrel and a motorized loader. If you want Spyder.. get a TL Plus .. which is 319.00 then save up and get a better barrel.. such as smart parts progressive or all american.. then get a Ricochet or 12v Revolution.

ya exactly, i was thinkign of a spyder tl+ but i just wanted to know what kind of gun other people would suggest.
anyone here in the vancouver area that can help me out?
Vancouver BC to be exact
I'm in Calgary, but people tell me that Badlands paintball ( www.badlandspaintball.com ) is good as well as panther paintball ( www.pantherpaintball.com) .
Here's the deal with expansion chambers and such, If you plan to use Co2 for the entire time you have your gun, get a Spyder with and ex-chamber already on it ie TL Plus... But my bro had a Spyder classic for years, which didn't have an expansion chamber.. so I slapped on a nitrogen 68 ci 3000 tank and it was sweet. Paintball guns don't need expansion chambers to run compressed air/nitrogen.
If you want a Spyder that shoots as straight as an autococker.. get a regular spyder and put a compressed air tank on it.. freaking amazing.
Here's the deal with Co2.. its cheap and it works. The major problem besides velocity spikes is that c02 has a lot of moisture in it. You'll notice that even with a great barrel, after like 50 shots, even with no breaks, your paintballs will start to curve shraply. This is because the moisture from the co2 has gotten into your barrel, creating wet and dry spots. The wet spots cause friction points for the paintball to hit putting spin on the ball. So when the paintball leaves the barrel, its already got spin on it in some direction, so you get curve balls.
With compressed air, there is no moisture, and hence no moisture in the barrel and your shots will stay straight thourghout the day. But the thing is the cost. A basic air tank (68 ci 3000 psi) costs aroun 300 bucks.. not cheap... but you can always put it on another gun when you upgrade.
But these are just my thoughts on that. Buying your own gun is always better than renting.. but I've just given you the best possible performance for the gun you're going to get. I've seen people play tourneys with that setup... spyder compact w/ bottomline, no expansion chamber, new barrel, motorized loader and a compressed air tank. Very nice. Something to consider, but don't spend more than you feel like. The TL PLus is a sweet beginner gun.

thanks a bunch :) i'm getting the tl plus now but just choosing a package at badlands is hard what you think?
Cool, I'm here to help! .. I'd say at least package b.. I'd prefer c.
I have a spectra proshield (like in package b and c) and I love it... I bought the goggles before I bought a marker. You need ones that are actually thermal.. absolutely no fog. Mine have never fogged up.. and I sweat buckets.. specialy since i'm a runner.
I like the proshield better than the flex cause I've seen the flex rip! Its not hard but flixible. Most tourney players use it and don't complain.. thats cause most tourney players don't pay in the woods and have never had the opportunity to get a branch in the face!
12oz is a nice size.. 20 is a little on the heavy side, but you won't run outta co2 for a long long time! So yeah B or C dude!

Don't know bout 12 oz, but a 20 oz should last you anywhere from 900-1200 shots. Just stick with your 12oz.
Here's what I'd do:
-Spyder Compact
-Smart Parts Progressive barrel
-Expansion Chamber
-Z Stretch Drop Forward (optional)
Easy as 1,2,3
I R PBALL MASTA
Oh ya, I'm selling my gun too. http://www.geocities.com/blake_sw , excellent gun, works great.

hey should i put on a boomstick on it? would it work better??
or if that sucks what kind of barrel is good?
A boomstick is like 180 dude! Uh I'd say something smart parts or even the newer JT barrels.. they are a nearly identical copy of the boomstick.... Smartparts is what I'd choose.

I say BUY MY GUN. It's going to end up costing less than a normal spyder with upgrades, plus it already has alot of great features and upgrades aswell. But hey, that's just me
No point in getting a boomstick..the barrel will cost more than the gun! Just get a Smart Parts barrel or Custom Products.

It's great for speedball. I'm getting a Lapco Bigshot, anyone can tell you it's one of the best there is. Plus, you'll be able to lower the pressure a bit more with the barrel. Once I get it I'll add it on for an extra $40, that's $50 off.

I have the TL+, and the stock barrel sucks. It's horible. Even when I was a newbie and i was playing with people who had lesser guns, they had stock barrels that were better. When you buy a TL+, you pay extra for : A better barrel (which isn't), and most people buy a new barrel right off the bat. (I did, cause mine was crap) An x-chamber (and if you want a TL+ x-chamber, I'll sell ya mine :), or buy Maj spyder's cause thats a decient one at a good price), rear cocking?(I don't know. do the compact's have rear cocking?) the bolt is supposed to be better, because it has a "VENTURI INSERT" ohhh, ahhhh. Well to tell you the truth, the bolt works better WITH OUT the insert!!! and that's what the extra $140+ goes to. A BUNCH OF USELESS CRAP. This is only my advise, and others will tell you different, but from my firsthand experience, I would stick with a compact with a bottom line, buy a JJ ceramic or other nice barrel for about $100, that's what i use, and it works AWESOME with any diablo paint. Save your money for paint and in the future you can buy better stuff, like a better bolt/barrel/loader/trigger frame the list goes on and on. In conclusion, you are paying money for parts that either (a) don't change the proformance of the gun, or (b) will be replaced in the near future by another better part. <end rant>

I would seriously consider buying blake's gun, because it's already set up to run good (LP), and has a lot of aftermarket parts.you could run it off of CO2 untill you could buy nitro then it would run sweet. Blake? can I have my money now? j/k (but I was serious about the gun:)

Yup, that's right. I might buy a Timmy soon.
I used this gun in practices with NPPL teams, it's very durable and easy as hell to maintain.
After each day of use:
- Take out the bolt, clean it off, put some oil on the bolt and rub it around with your finger
- Put a few drops of oil in the bottomline, screw in the tank and dry fire it 20 times.
~~
It comes with a spring kit, so you can easily control your velocity if you change from indoor to outdoor paintball.
The regulator keeps the shots consistent. Consistency = Accuracy

I live in Barrie, Ontario. If you buy it, I'll bring it in to my airsmith to have it professionaly tuned. The airsmith did all the low pressure modifications. No it doesn't come with a hopper and tank. But if you want, I can probably get you a normal 200 rnd hopper for an extra $5. Rental Co2 is usually always free, so I reccomend using that.
And another pic of the beautiful blue

Well, I've already delt with MajSpyder, Hadoken and ChrisC, all on PBreview. I'm selling my Automag to a guy on PballCanada.com. I've sold my Nitro Tank to another member of PballCanada.com, it's up to you. If you want, I can give the email of some people I've sold items too.
Distance really isn't a factor, tell ya what, I'll pay %50 of your shipping. I'm buying a gun right now from California, shipping only costed me $12 US.
The gun will also include it's original box, blank warranty (still good) and a diagram of the gun. If you have any questions about the BL Millenium, you can go to the Owners Group http://server5.ezboard.com/bdefiantboard

Heh, ya it can happen if you aren't safe. I've bought stuff off the net with Credit Card but am fortunate to have everything delivered safely. By all means, take your time :agree: I know it might not mean much, seeing as you haven't known very long, but I am someone you can trust.
Tell your dad how fun paintball is, that it's bout time you should have your own equipment and that you would like to get serious about the sport. Try getting him to play pball with ya.

oh haha sorry sorry new to these forums stuff
how far can that thing shoot?
blake_sw
08-08-2001, 02:49 PM
Shoots as far as every other paintball gun, about 280 feet effective range. I play upfront in speedball and airball fields, so I don't need to shoot much over 50ft at all. It's very accurate too, I was laying fire on a target range with each ball stacked on the previous ball.

ahh ya can you add a hopper and are you selling elbows with it?
also if you can add a air tank and tell me the extra
blake_sw
08-08-2001, 03:28 PM
You don't elbows for this kind of gun, it has one built in.
- Standard Hopper: $5
- Co2: ?? Are you going to be playing around the house or at a field? If you go to a field, you can use rental co2 no problem.
Oh, I wasn't able to get your pm, my inbox was full..can you try it again?

i'm prolly going to need a co2 tank cause get a few peeps and play around

When I go to a tournament this week I'll ask the field owners if they can sell me a used co2 tank. Are you willing to pay $20-35 though for the tank?
Redesc
08-08-2001, 03:46 PM
hmm maybe but this is already like 420 now if i get it?
ya i'm kinda willing but how big is the question
blake_sw
08-08-2001, 03:52 PM
They are 16oz stubs, GREAT TANKS. If I were to buy a co2 tank, this it'd be it (ok, too much hype!). They're really small but still hold a good capacity. You should be able to get 600-800 shots out of it, which is plenty. I'll actually call my field tommorow to see if they'd sell me one.
$420 would still be a good deal! I saw an add for a mill at $400 US!! Here's the link to prove it http://pub3.ezboard.com/fdefiantboardmillennium.showMessage?topicID=1326.t opic
