My local field used BigBall paintballs. I am sure it is because they are inexpensive. It is a "fieldpaint only" indoor field. Get this: they charge $120 per 2000 for them. What a mark up!
Anyway. I found them to be horrible. I am currently using an F4 Illustrator TP. An average gun and I like it. I have used Kick'n and Nelson Nelsplats and they both worked great, no breaks what-so-ever and the price is good. But the Bigballs were breaking in everyone's guns, even the field owner's rental guns. They also broke in a few people's hoppers and in their haulers, mine included. How can that even happen?
I complained to the owner. It was no use. He loves them. He said it could be a combination of my gun and the balls...I understand that some balls work better given the different bores and such. But they broke in the hopper and haulers and in his own Tippman guns.
Supposedly they have a thicker shell. Whatever. They do hurt more than most balls and they do bounce off more than most....probably due to the think shell....this was very evident by the literally hundreds of balls on the floor in the field. And this place cleans up everyday...so that was just one day's worth of bounce offs.
The BigBalls also had several dimples on the majority of the balls. Very strange. I think there is a quality assurance/control issue with these balls due to their inconsistancy. I know they are made by RPS, but that doesn't automatically make them great.
I am convinced fields buy them because of their cheap price.
I say this: Best to just stay away from these. I have seen enough reviews at this site to make me question them anyway. Then I used them. Not good. Some folks may like these balls, but there are PLENTY of other choices in balls which will peform better and are decently priced. BigBalls make be OK for some folks, but I don't want OK balls in my gun. I want good or great!
