I hear Impulses are smaller, lighter, and just as nice shooting as shockers. If this is all true, why are they so much cheaper?

Well, the shocker is a closed bolt gun, and to achieve this, smart parts needed to use 2 solenoids (a solenoid is a valve that opens and closes electronically), while most other electros only use 1 (including the impulse). Solenoids are hella expensive, so part of the cost is right there. Shockers are also bigger (more materials) and the chip is slightly different since it has to time the 2 solenoids. More expensive doesnt neccessarily make it better though, they're just different guns, with different components, and I'm betting the shocker costs more to make, and that's what you're seeing in the price
