The best gun in the price range you described is the Autococker 2000. But if you want a beginner's gun and you don't want a Spyder then go for a Piranha or Tippman.

Deffinitly go for a model 98, that is by far the most reliable gun out there on the market i know because i have one. its cheat and the only upgrade you would NEED is a new barrel but other then that i think that its one of the best guns out there, some say its even better then an autococker so theres my opinion

Try the Piranha PRO (http://www.paintball-discounters.com/cgi-bin/webc.exe/st_prod.html?p_prodid=366&p_catid=47&sid=5bW2dL01w7tI6IK-25100417571.ec). it's $249.99 w/o shipping at http://www.paintball-discounters.com/

get the cocker 2k, it is the best best gun in the 300 dollar range. Why get a piranha when you can get a cocker for 335. this can can be upgraded as far as you want- from new barrels to pnuematics to electro conversions.

Um, I would say a 99 or 2k cocker. That or a mag. Mag is a bit simpler than a cocker, but the cocker comes with a fairly good inline reg on it.

On a cocker electro conversion. It is overpriced, fugly, doesnt perform for the price, and Sandrige customer cupport blows.

I tend to disagree- a sandbride cocker will run asw much as an angel in price and it will shoot very consistantly and more accurate the key point about an electro cocker is that is fires from closed bolt. If you own one and hate it, i sympathize for you because you probably got a bad gun- but otherwise unless you have even shot one, keep those comments to yourself. "The gun has to be pretty," who cares- raw performance is key, then asthetics.

No, I dont own one. Yes, I have shot several. I decided to shoot a few before I put my money into it. I was stating my opinion that a Force 5 is no better than an Angel, and I would put it on par with a Bushy. And, accuracy depends on a good paint to barrel match more than it does if the gun has a closed or open bolt.

okay, first of all, the title of this forum thread is "beginning gun" i bet if u get a cocker, and try to open it up, U WONT BE ABLE TO PUT IT BACK TOGETHER RIGHT! the cocker is VERY complicated, NOT A BEGINNERS GUN! dont get it. if you have 350, and spend it on a cocker, think about it, you get da gun for 330, and wat u ahve left? 20$ to buy a brass eagle mask? and save up even more to buy paintballs and all dat crap? if i were you, i'd get a m98 with a 20oz c02 tank, remote, and a new lapco bigshot barrel. after that your set with like 200 to spend. u can go paintballin around 3-4 times with that, and when u go, u can get better. da m98 has FAST rate of fire, and so durable, dat u can run over it with a car, and it would still work fine. it is REALLY durable, sooooo many upgrades, and its just great. get it!

This kind of people who think a cocker is hard to maintain is the kind that thinks it is hard to change the oil in their car.

but on the lighter side would some one run over a cocker so that fool will stop talking about the m98 being run over bit.... if I owned a m98 I would run it over too...:)

sorry just sounded funny:)

I'd say you should go with something good like the cocker or the mag
