For just the gun itself? I recommend spyders. They're my personal favorite for starter markers. Inexpensive, very nice looking, and very upgradeable. :)

I was able to get an X-raider foR $160, has an ergo reg, drop forward, low pressure chamber, etc. its comparible to the spyder shutter or tl plus, but in my opinion the x-raider is a greater value. You can also look around for great deals all over the place. My friend got a WGP E-Ranger for just over $200. If you need a mask and tank as part of that $200 budget than go with either a Pirahna or a Model 98, so you could spend the money on other stuff. (advice on the pirahna, dont buy it stock, get an upgraded version, or make sure you have the money to upgrade it, stock pirahna's are not that good in my experiance.)

Go with a used mag...great durable guns. Consistent...which is why they're well liked.

If mags aren't your cup of tea...consider:

Spyder E-99's are good guns...and can usually be bought for around $140-150ish. I had one and gave it to a relative. Pretty good gun.

For woodsball nothing beats an upgraded Tippman 98.

If you're looking more towards speedball/tournament play...consider BKO's. They're like $240 at Action Village but they're true electro's with a working solenoid. They're not pretty but I've seen good results with them. A co-worker of mine loves his. He and his son rock with theirs. Granted you'll need N2 but what you spend now may save you $$ later if you want to upgrade.

Going up from there in the $300-500 range...

Think Cockers, Impulses and maybe...the omen.

Yeah...the only thing you run on Co2 is low end gun such as Spyders...Tippys...that kind of stuff...but NEVER run an autococker, angel, mag or any other high end gun on C02 us N2 for them

NO GET THE PIRANHA!! hehe they are pretty much the same as the spyders, but they're performance stock is better imo, my friends got an e99 and we've test it next to my regular sts 2k3 and the sts cameout ontop, so he's selling his e99 to the store and buying a sts 2k3, but with e-grip since he likes electro. also the sts 2k3 is about the same price as the spyders ne way...

I'll have to dispute you on that. The nearest comparable spyder to the STS 2k3 is the Xtra. The Xtra is 84.95, while the STS 2k3 is 138.75. That is about a 54 dollar price difference. With 54 dollars you can get a new CP one piece, an upgrade that will put the Xtra out ahead and still be 14 dollars cheaper than the STS. The other fourteen or so dollars can be used to buy an aluminum feed adapter for the vertical feed on the Spyder. The Xtra also comes with a drop, although a small one. So go figure.:D

If you are gonna upgrade: Esprit (elecro) or compact (have to get one used)
I've heard good things about piranhas, but never shot one.
