Here's a good site that will shed some light on the popularity and high safety record of paintball.
Edit: whoops.. forgot the link:

Another thing: at first my mom didn't want me to get a marker. I decided early on to get mine off of EBay because it's so much cheaper. Well, when I'd found one I wanted I told my mom I'm getting a marker and I want her to sign on to her EBay account so I could bid on it. Reluctantly she did it and I got it and I've bought another thing off of EBay since then in addition to my barrel off of County Paintball. I suggest you go with EBay to get you gun. Just show your mom that site I posted and she won't really have reason to not allow you to play.

Simply tell them you are responsible enough to own a Paintball marker and that if she bought you a paintball marker you would not neglect the privledge of owning one by breaking laws or seriously injuring or hurting people or damaging property

Have your dad come to the field for a day of paintball

Tell your parents that you'll get good grades in school (meaning A's and B's.)
Since we don't have school now, tell them that if you have your own paintball gun, you'll be active in an outdoors sport and that you will not have to continously spend money on rentals. If they say rentals are fine, tell them how unsanitary they usually are.

Tell them how you feel. Tell them why you think you should get a paintball marker and why you are responsible enough to own one. If that doesnt work get your dad to go play paintball with you. After he has experienced a day of paintball im sure he will understand why you want one.

It also helps if you pay for most or all of your stuff yourself instead of your parents buying everything for you. Paintball is expensive and nobody likes the spoiled momma's boys. You'll also gain their respect and let your parents know you're responsible enough to be playing in the first place.

I agree with Rancid Coleslaw...

Tell them that you are respnsible enough to handle a firearm and that you will abide by all laws while engaging in the sport of paintball (hopefully it will confuse them and you can take advantage of it)

A good way that works for me is ask them to give you a cash reward for getting on honor roll. I get about $200 every semester for getting on Headmaster's Honor Roll.

He never said they were paying for it, he said he needs to convince them to allow him to own one.
Paintball was voted the safest recreational sport of 2002! if i can find that article i'll post it. it's also the fastest-growing, but pay no heed to that, since it took 2 decades to get that way.
And, yes, say it's a marker not a "gun" and it doesn't use "ammo" it uses paint. And we all know paint is harmless, right? Right??
My mom doesn't like me owning a paintball marker either but what is she gonna do? i'm 23 and i live in my own dang house, beeeeeeeeeetch!

Watch the rerun of the first episode of Splatter Factor, and show her the paintball moms.
But in all seriousness, show her that website I gave you a link to. Also, why dont you take her to the field, let her have a chat with the owner. Do you research, explain how safe the sport is, show her the players and how they keep barrel plugs on, how the speed of the paintballs is limited, the safety gear we wear, etc. This should show her that we are friendly people, that it is safe, and that you are responsible enough and you want to play enough that you took the trouble to do all this research. This will show her this isnt just some "Well all my friends are doing it, so...." and that you actually want to do it. Hope I helped.
