I am a newbie at this sport. Went out the second time, first with my mask on (mask came with the gun). It's the JT Elite X-fire mask. We played in the woods and it was raining. The mask fogged up so bad I could only see for like 5 feet! I tried to clean it, but it was as if it fogged on the inside of the lens!!! As if there were two lenses and it fogged between them. I absolutely could NOT clean it. It cost me a kill today (I was behind the guy and he was behind a big rock looking at the other direction, butsince I never saw him, he turned around and shot me from 20 feet, I still did not see him untill I took off that damn mask). I was rather pissed. Later I took my friends dark safety glasses. Even though it was darker, I could see much better then in the mask. All my friends who play, say, screw the mask. It always fogs. I kind of seem to agree now. The problem is that I don't want to come to work with a fat lip or red welts on my face, and so I am still looking at different masks. Is there a mask out there that will not fog up when you play in the rain? Or am I just screwed and should play with safety glasses?

1st off, you are a complete and utter fool for even considering to not wear a mask, and are potentially jeapordizing the name of the sport (as bad as it already is) by possibly stacking up the injuries. THE FIRST THIGN YOU MUST LEARN, AND TELL YOUR FRIENDS, YOU WILL NOT PLAY PAINTBALL WITHOUT PROPER SAFETY CHECKS.. ie.. goggles on.. plugs in when they aint on.. always chronie... now, if you do this, i will give you my advice.
get thermal lenses for $15, or get a vforce shield, the anti-fog.

oh and safety glasses, get a bunker - shot to the face, they WILL break, and you WILL lose your eyesight.

always chronie
What does chronie mean?
I did not know that safety glasses could break. Are you sure? They sell them in our local store here.

cronie means chronograph. buy a thermal mask. its the best thing to do. dont wear safety glasses they're not as strong as a paintball mask.

ABSOLUTELY NEVER PLAY PAINTBALL WITHOUT A PROPER PAINTBALL MASK!!!!:pissed:
It sound like you have moisture on the inside of your lens. Allow it to dry completely by leaving it in a dry arid place for about a week, then use silicone around the edges to seal it. Or buy a new lens.
There are fans you can buy to deal with more normal fogging or you can go to radio shack and rig up a computer fan to your mask.
Does anyone have a link for those thermals?

Wow, you guys are serious about your safety gear. It's just like on the motorcycle website I go to. Everyone there (including me) insists on always wearing safety gear. It's just that I don't think that any of my friends will buy a mask. Unless the next one I buy is not too expensive, and never fogs (without the aid of a fan) too much. I mean playing in the rain is a bit extreme as far as fogging goes, but I hope that thermal lenses will do their job. Although I seriously doubt it.
Now I have a dilemma. I can buy the Nforcer mask (the highest rated mask on this website) with the Thermal lens, or just buy a replacement Thermal lens for the X-fire cheapo mask that came with my gun. Can anyone tell me how the Nforcer compares to the X-fire that came with my gun? Is it that much more comfy and fogs really so much less? Also, do I have to buy that JT Magic lens cleaner, or is windex enough?
Ps. Sorry for my ignorance on this subject. Motorcycle helmet lenses don't hav such problems, because when you ride, much more air passes through and cleans you lens of any fog. And it's just fine to clean it with a warm water or windex. At least I never had any problems cleaning it like that for the past two years.
Thanks in advance guys, and don't be too mad. As they say, ignorance is bliss, and I never had anyone to show me the ropes.

you can get either JT Anti-Fog, or, like i said just check out the V-Force lens review.. http://www.pbstar.com/vforgoglin.html .. you can stick these in the freezer, and they will NOT fog... or just anti-fog treatment also works..
but yes, of course we are serious. I always try to get some of my friends involved, but some say, or their parents say, "I heard about these two kids playing in their backyard and one got shot in the eye, paintball is for irresponsible kids and is very dangerous!" and if people promote that image, then we're ****ed
