Sunday 12th - Jeff Stillin Memorial Tournament at Wasaga Beach Paintball. VERY hot day, water: needed.
Ryan - Krasher
Dave - Nem
I arrived at 8:30, I saw the team (Krasher, Nemessis, Joe)walking up to the main building so I caught up to them. Problem at hand, there were only 3 pimps, this was a 4man tourney. Good thing I brought my shizat with me, the 4th member (Fatty_ACPP from Pbnation) never even showed. So I bought a case of paint ($60/2000, 3 cents a ball!), gassed my gun and got ready. This was my first tourney where I was gonna play all the games. I played some in BC but just as back up (like I was doing now)...
Allright, everything's ready, all problems fixed, time for the first game against ATV. Bah, only one man is there from their team, so instead of ATV forfeiting, we play them at the end of the day. It's a long wait till our first game. Instead of talking about each game, I'll say this..we lost all but one game in the first half of the tourney.
In the second game, something that SHOULDN'T OF HAPPENED did. Off the break I was running to my bunker on the 30 (about that). Ryan is playing the back standup, right behind me. HE SHOOTS ME IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD! I call a paintcheck, to my luck it broke and I'm out. While I'm walking off the field I say "Thanks Ryan". No biggy, this crap happens, and Ryan musta apologized atleast 20 times :( . Most of the other games fell apart, the front men (often Dave and I) got taken out and the team grabbed the flag and took out our back players. The bunkers on the side were the keys to winning games. Who ever held the snake and sub (tape bunkers) controled the angles. Due to our underagressive playing stlye (alot of blame on me, I don't usually play so passive), I was unable to move up very much and force opportunities.
I think it was our 5th game that we actually did well and won. I forgot the teams' name, but Gino, owner of Champion's Paintball was on it (Green jerseys, know who I'm talking about?). We broke hard, I was front left, and I forget the others :D There was this fool that kept sticking his foot out, I kept shooting at it only to miss by inches. I called a couple paintchecks on his foot too. 2 opponents were already gone and I was going to make a move for the flag. The code for "Goin for flag" was B2, which I signaled to Ryan to cover me. I didn't know that a player from the other team had just made it to the flag while I was leaving my bunker. I popped out and took him out before he had a chance to pull the flag..but I got out aswel. The last player on their team left shortly after and Joe pulled the flag and hung it. The two games after that were much better than the earlier games, while not as great as the previous, they were a big improvement.
Our last game, we decided to try something different. Dave and I went directly to the tape bunkers instead of the spikes/nipples. I'm not sure bout the rest of the team, but I was pinned down for good. A few minutes later, and after some unsuccessful snap shots, I was bunkered. I didn't even see it coming so I couldn't of done anything. Dave replied that I "turtled". Okeys.
End of the tourney. Next came the ceremony and awards. The whole idea of the tourney was to raise money for the Heart & Stroke Foundation. All money went there. In total, we raised $6300 Impressive for only 11 teams. Oh ya, I won a golf shirt. I wanted the ZAP jersey, that Joe ended up winning.
What did we place? 10th. Could be much better, but we gained alot of experience which was more than welcome.
Oh, my gun also performed suprisingly well. I'm selling it next week once I get a gauge tapped on it for the buyer. I was getting +/- 1,2,3 consistency all day long, except for the occasional spike..one which caused a hot gun penalty I think (nothing compared to Dave's..a loss of 15 points). I swapped my working revvy for Ryan's crapass broken one. Oh well, he needed mine more than I did. My mill did well on no moving rev though, even though I had to shake it alot. It stopped firing at one time, but that's because the bolt was bone dry. At one point I had to fiddle with the reg and springs. The velocity adjuster is still backed out pretty far, I'll have to use a lighter spring. That's it for me.
Super Pimps, care to add anything?
p.s. , this was originaly posted in Canada forum, so if anything sounds weird, that may be why.
