Argh, I HATE camo & "sniper" newbies, period. Makes paintball look more like war and less like a sport. So what if it gives you an "advantage". I can still see a guy if he's wearing camo or not.
I hate it more when I'm playing with a bunch of newbs and one says "ok, I'm gonna go snipe". Makes me wanna smack him upside the head.

 Wahh wahh awahh Blake-sw. Some of you people need to get off your speedball highhorse and get a clue. I was probably sniping my friends in the woods while you were still in diapers.
Speedball is fine, but paying money to play does not make you an expert.

ARGH! My point is, they said that sniping is NOT getting a 10x scope and laying down in the bushes and camping.. they explained how it is just being stealth.. and people should realize this.. because their "sniping" just plain out isnt.

these sniping arguments should have their own little forum.

Point taken, and I did read the article - Typical APG, only useful if you're new.
The key to any attempt at "stalking" or "sinping" in a woods ball, scen., or big game is PATIENCE !
This gets left out alot

yeah if you still think that you are going to be a great sniper just because you got a luck shot in, then you need to read that because then you might just get your arse up there and fight like real men!

If sniping is sneaking up on people then why isnt it called flanking?
Thor the Mighty
08-14-2001, 09:11 AM
seriously! no all it is is newbies with NICE guns that stay in the back and have 43" freak barrels and shoot in the general direction of the enemy and then call them out every time he squeezes a round off! that is a "sniper" they are pointlesss

Snipers in rec play and tourneys dont exist.
However, in scenarios and big games they do.

give us reasons snipes don't exist in those forms of PB. because I would love to laugh at them.

I don't know..... I'd have to agree that Snipers in a Tourney game are, at the least, really really out of place.
Most rec-ball games end up being speed ball with tree's...
Big games & Scen. games though, I'd say you actually need people in the sniper role for these.

What rec game is played on a field where you cant see all the way across it?
What rec game lasts longer than a half hour MAX?
What rec game has enough people where one will just "fall" into your sights?
Face it, after 5 min it turns into a speedball game with shade.

I completely agree that it would be silly at best to try to act like a sniper on a speedball field. There just isn't the right kind of cover and terrain. Most speedball fields I've seen are almost all bunkers. In between the bunkers you are exposed, wich makes it nearly impossible to move undetected.
Rec ball is fine for sniping if you are in the woods, or even tall grassy areas. Even in a 20 minute game I can get 5 kills easy. (Not that I dont ever get taken out though)
Scenario games have got to be a snipers field day.
Any game that has the right kind of terrain to allow you to use cover to move about undetected is perfect for sniping. to be a real sniper, you must become adept at using it. Those who sit and wait for the other team are not Snipers. At best they are an ambush, at worse they are just camping.
A sniper agressively attacks the enemy alone and generally without support. They create havoc with the other team by causeing confusion and thinning thier numbers, often before the main group of the team is even engaged.
One ofthe best parts of sniping for me is when you are behind the other teams position, alone and you screw up and are discovered. You then have the whole other team gunning for you. Now thats adrenilin time for sure!

Agreed, most of the rec-ball fields I've played on end up exactly like this. However, this isn't to say that there aren't rec-ball games that don't play out like this.
Most rec-ball fields are heavily used & therefore the tall grass, small brush, etc. that would normally provide a potential sniper with cover are either stomped into the ground or non-existant.

snip·er (snpr)
n.
1. A skilled military shooter detailed to spot and pick off enemy soldiers from a concealed place.
2. One who shoots at other people from a concealed place.
Taken from dictionary.com
"Concealed place" is the key words, on a field thats usually 200 yards long tops, how can you be concealed? They can see you off the break, and can watch every single one of your moves. Theres a big difference between 200 yeards and 2 miles.

If you can't see the person, there concealed. There is sniping in rec ball, but I guess it regional. here in NEW HAMPSHIRE even in fields there are boulders and other objects to conceal your anus, but in the south west I guess that's none existent.

cant snipe in the deserts of az, all we usually have it spedball, hyperball, sup'air

I say that "There is no sniping in paintball" but that is not exactly what I mean. I guess when i say paintball, i mean real, tournament sytle paintball. (Speedball, Hyperball, SupAir) I guess there is sniping in some woods fields and in scenario games.
BUt i really dont count playing paintball in the woods 10 ft from your house real paintball. Yes you are still playing paintball, but IMO, that is not really playing real tournament sytle paintball.
So instead of saying "there is no sniping in paintball", i should sya "there is no sniping in tournament style paintball," and that is why i get flamed a lot on the sniping subject, caues of litlte errors like that :)
This done'st mean you win Magedeth :D this just means you misunderstood me .. But i haven't changed my argument once, i can just see how you can "snipe" in untournament style paintball.

why buy a scope for your gun, in some occasions your ball doesnt even reach that 10x zoom u got on your dad...
SNIPERS SUCK MY WANKIE, IF thEY EXISTeD,
Anyway, APG shouldnt call it snipin, its called stalkin muthers...
Sniping, IT MEANS ELIMINATING(permanently or semipermenantly) your enemy, target, opponent, bystander, etc.
Before shot, must remain unnoticed, must also be unseen after shot has been fired...
THAT MEANS yOU HAVE TO LoNG BALL IT, AND WHEN SNIPERS PLAY WItH PAINTBALL GUNS, IT IS SHEAR LUCK, SO IF you LONGBALL it ACROSS the FIELD, and hit SOMEONE, Dont call yourself a skilled sniper, CALL yOURSelF QWEER!!! and then Ill fart on your old spyder or M98 and say eat my mag, cocker, impulse, etc.
THEN ID SHOOT EM IN THE LENSE!!!
AND THEN PEE ON A TREE, SPELLING THE WORD SUCKER!

most of the snipers are non agressive newbies that are afraid of attacking. they usually just camp out in the woods, then when they see like 5 people they sh*t their pants and run.
but im not saying there are no snipers, they are just rare to find

they throw their sh*t at you and then you get count out as a mark. That only happens if your field has viewloader or brass eagle...
